It had a decent impact in EMEA as well. It's still selling pretty well there. Didn't have much of an impact in Japan, but that was a given. The Japanese hate Microsoft and most of their products.

Sales will explode for every console at christmas. They do every year, and a price cut ensures that.

That was a bit random actually. But, well, just a general point

Wouldn't Sony have a decent few cards, what with their console haveing room for a few more price cuts?  And Uncharted 3 later in the year, could even be a 6 million seller.  And another redesign is not out of the question lol. 

Perhaps, but the PS3 has already got a new attachment, price cut, re-design(s), and extra colours, the 360 is similar, whereas Wii has yet to get a new attachment (that'd be Vitality Sensor), a re-design and has plenty of room for a new price cut

Well...if you count the peripherals, then it has had like 20 attachments lol.  Wii has had new colors, no? And to be fair, Wii doesn't require a redesign because of the tech involved. 

I will give you that Nintendo can cut price whenever they want without a second thought, they'd still be making crazy money. lol

man Xbox is eating their competitors...sad thing for Wii...for PS3 isnt that bad because it rarely sold better than the Xbox in america...but still my opinion is that Sony should do something over there...i think Sony is a little bit too optimistic with KZ3...maybe Sony think this will have a little impact and yes it will maybe have...but only for one week and Xbox is outselling PS 2:1...and Killzone will never push like 60-70k more consoles over there ^^

$299 is where PS3 is at, thats where PS2 launched. Lets be happy to see PS3 doing this well worldwide despite that.

yes youre right...but for me its only sad to see like "man Sony at 199$ would knock out their competitors" but despite that yeah of course we got the best time ever...i mean the 2011 line up is god-given...and FF Versus XIII isnt even release this year so 2012 will be awesome too ^^

Yup exactly. We have a steady flow of games, then as you said 2012 already has 1 big exclusive set and probably The Last Guardian and Agent (new exclusive rockstar game is always one to watch out for) too. 

It is sad to say, "if only PS3 were $199" because that is a should/would situation, but its also true that PS3 still has far more sales potential simply because it isn't at mass market price point. Thats not even counting the expanded markets that are buying PS2's in droves now that may want to upgrade to a PS3 3 years or so down the line. There is a sort of 10 year plan coming together here.

So... what VGC is telling us, is that X360 sells more than twice more than PS3 and only 200k more software?

The X360 is $299 and is selling like hotcakes despite being one year older, less powerful, no bluray, no free online. (the Arcade is for casuals, minor sales)

Both will drop to $249 this year and the sales ratio will be maintained.
