Forums - General - Can Egyptians do it?

I wish it wouldn't have turned out so dreadful. But then again it is to be expected when things get out of control.

About as bad as what Tunisia got. We haven't even reached the level of, for instance, Romania yet, so it's been pretty good as far as attempted revolutions go (though as Slimebeast said, Mubarak's doing his best to try to get this to fizzle)

Hey, we won that thing, and the dicator's six feet under. Let's see if the Egyptians can achieve that.

I'm starting to wonder if Egypt can actually complete the revolution without firearm ownership by the general populace.

An armed rebellion would give the army a very good excuse to crush it. Given the protestors have no organization they would basically be an armed and unorganized mob, wouldn't stand a chance against a modern well equiped military.

Their only hope that Mubarak leaves in the short term is that the army doesn't stand behind him - they have pretty much all the immediate power in the country.

It doesn't matter if they have weapons or not. A revolution cannot be done without the implicit or explicit support of the army.

If enough people are revolting that the members of the army can't bring themselves to shoot them, they don't need weapons.

If, on the other hand, the number of people revolting is small, whether they're well armed or not the army or the police will crush them.

The number of people revolting didn't sound small to me... either way, we're about to enter the part I hate most about these types of events.

The US Media apathy pase...  where all the news dries up and you don't know what's going on until something happens, which it probably won't because these types of revolutions now a days usually needs the support and pressuring of a western nation.

it's happening , it's happening! EGYPT EGYPT EGYPT EGPYT EGYPT

wtf................

The dictator Mubarek won't step down until the September elections, what a prick. He's passing some of his powers to that other unelected criminal VP Omar Suleimen. I trust the Egyptian people will do what's best for them. Personally I hope they keep protesting till he goes and also I hope they seize his weath and put it to good use.

Damn what will Israel do if some islamic extremist seizes power?

Will they probably go all out GOD OF WAR on the entire middle east?
