Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 3DS battery life is 3-to-5 hours for 3DS games

This thread reminds me of the "3DS will cost $300" topics we had.

Don't worry rol, those threads are nothing compared to the ones you make.

i myself don't mind this.. i have this issue with android phones which is what is taking up most of my time right now. i have four chargers: at home, at work, in the car, and my gf's house plus i have an extra battery just in case. i guess that's how it is now. i don't know. i don't know if i'm fine with it but i just learned to adjust my life around it. it does suck sometimes 'cuz i have carry a charger with me if i'm ever at a laundromat or some place like that. once i get a 3ds, i'll probably have just as many chargers or twice the baggage

Phat DS most certainly did not last 12 hours, try half that dude..

In terms of the 3DS, pretty pathetic battery life, shorter than I expected.. I guess now we know the reason why the cradle will be bundled with the hardware.

Really? Weird, I remember rarely charging my original DS and playing it heaps. It was so long ago, I've probably made a mistake then.

Someone posted this on Neogaf:

DSi numbers.
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/series/dsi/spec/index.html

Lowest brightness: 9 - 14 hours
It is low brightness: 8 - 12 hours
Medium brightness: 6 - 9 hours
High brightness : 4 - 6 hours
The highest brightness Approximately: 3 - 4 hours

The DSi apparently consumes more battery life than the DS Lite (according to some dude on Gaf) and I doubt Nintendo would be throwing around the maximum settings battery life for the 3DS, so in comparison to the DSi, it's getting out about half the life (based on the medium settings).

It's also pretty weird that it takes 3.5 hours to charge a console that only has 3 to 5 hours of game life. That's pretty extreme in comparison to other portable devices.

What Phat DS where you playing??? I had to charge that thing every 2 and a half hours!

Bloody hell, if someones found something wrong with the things I've posted, please tell me what it is so I can fix it. Coming in and making smart ass comments without actually adding anything to the discussion is just silly. If I've posted something that is factually wrong or if you've found that I haven't backed up the points made in the OP enough, please tell me, because I'm willing to fix it or admit that I'm wrong.

Geeze, console fans are defensive, you can't even post new information without getting any sort of backlash.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

I just wonder if the 3D will affect the battery life. If so, then I will use it as little as possible, since I wasn't really planning on using it that much anyway.

Yup. 3D effects, volume, WiFi and Bright. Actually I think that the WiFi is the biggest hog. BTW check the GAF thread about the same topic and have a nive laught at it.

3-5 hours?

Ew, that's horrible, that's barely enough for a flight.

That had better have some shutoff for the wi-fi then.

You can't have it all; 3D, great graphics, low price AND huge battery life. Nintendo opted to sacrifice battery this time, and I think it's the right choice.

How's that much different? They show the worst case scenario as always.
