Wait... Nintendo DS overtake PlayStation 2!! ^0^/

No, it didn't.  ioi has said that the numbers are highly undertracked for PS2, it will shortly be ahead again.  Might be adjusted by a few million.

If DS shipments over take PS2, what would be next? that Nintendo over-shipped DS or that DS is way over-tracked?

What? Who said anything like that?

OMFG @ Mario Kart Wii!! 223k in it's 138th week of release? Absolute juggernaught! This game gets nowhere near the attention it deserves on these forums. Closing in on 24 million and still counting. Has it even had a price cut yet?

Is it the most successful game to never be bundled with a console? I don't remember it being bundled at any rate. Perhaps it was briefly.

great numbers especially for ps3 and 360, others not so special imo

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

just to get this straight

Posters here have a problem with GT5 sales because why? Territories that aren't counted

Not sure I get it

The site has trouble tracking in many of the places that Sony has expanded to, smaller countries that MS and Nintendo don't really try as hard with, for wahtever reason.  This has been shown to generate many more sales than previously thought, which resulted in big adjustments that helped the PS3 a lot.  While some of this may be what they are saying, I think others just think it has been undertracked in the main countries a bit too.  There really is no way to tell until more official numbers come in.  It wouldn't surprise me if ioi was relatively close though.

Try as hard to sell consoles or not try as hard to gather sales info?

Why are people so excited about Sports Champions sales? 50% or more of these sales came from bundles, so i don't see, what's so special about this number.

Are people cheering that Kinect Adventures has sold more than 2.4 million units?

People care about Sports Champions sales because it shows healthy growth of adoption for Move as a platform to develop for. The future of Move is less certain than Kinect due to Sony's lesser push in marketing it. I'm not saying it's going anywhere, but Microsoft seems to be putting more into pushing Kinect on the market than Sony does Move.

And yes, some people are cheering that Kinect Adventures is doing grand numbers. I'm for one am glad that both motion controls have found some traction in the market. Earlier kowenicki mentioned Kinect Adventures sales enthusiastically.

Also, I do believe that every person who gets Kinect gets Kinect Adventures, so it's similar to the whole Wii Sports thing (although Japan doesn't have that game bundled with their Wiis, if I remember correctly). Sports Champions, on the other hand, is not sold with every copy of the Move, since there are so many SKUs on the market. Not every single person who has bought the Move has bought a copy of Sports Champions.

Still, the sales of both games are very impressive and I'm glad to see that motion gaming is having a good impact in the market. It'll definitely be interesting to see how things go from here.

360 beats PS3 in GT5 launch Week.

360 is a BEAST!

Not really with only a relative 40,000 difference when you consider that the Xbox 360 has almost always greatly outsold the PS3 in the Americas and the casual audience target of Kinect.  But that's just my humble opinion.

:)

Seriously? The 360 sold 540k WW last year (and was outsold by the PS3 in Americas 486k vs. 353k). This year the 360 has sold 844k WW (up over 300k YOY) and outsold the PS3 in the Americas 604k vs. 411k. The PS3 even had Sony's biggest franchise game launch, giving it an extra boost.

I'd say the 360 is doing extremely well at the moment.

Kinda disappointed by Wii sales. Just 25k shy of being up YOY. Should close that gap next week though, :D.

Yay for DS>PS2. Finally!

I know that DKCR's only in Americas and NSMB's bundled and all, but it's rather awkward to see it below NSMB on launch week, :P.

I think they are releasing the MK Wii bundle in Europe (pretty soon or is it out already?), so it will have a bundle very shortly. ;-p

No, they don't seem to push consoles as hard in these little countries, it seems like Sony puts more stock in their potential as Sony has a bigger presence in many of these places.  So having greater sales advantages in places like Brazil, China, etc.... imagine the potential sales if Sony could tap into it and make the market viable like the U.S. or Europe or Japan.  I think this will become a bigger factor next gen though, but the inconsistent Sony tracking is starting to display it.  This is why when people seem to say Sony is undertracked more than MS or Ninty fans....it's because it seems to be happening a lot.
