As far as competitive play goes I think these are also worth mentioning.

Kojondo is a pretty popular lead, if only to Fake-Out and then U-turn.  Also, Its High Jump Kick does more than Close Combat/Superpower/insert popular fighting type move here.  Basically, your Anti-lead.

Zoroark is a pretty good special attacker but Illusion is why its getting quite a bit of use.  The surprise Night Burst is pretty damaging.

Kerudio is pretty much the special equalivent to Terrakion.  Also it's probably the best user of Mystery Blade out there.

Is there not already a Unicorn Pokémon?

I am not sure if I should buy Pokémon Black/White, I've moved on from that! Try and convince me Smeags!!!

You've... moved on? Moved on from what? Having fun? Going on grand adventures? Traveling new lands, exloring new areas, finding new Pokemon, making new friends, becoming the very best?

You've moved on from all that?

Especially now that Black and White is about to release? This game is going to be a breath of fresh air to many a Pokemaniac because for the first time since Red and Blue version, you will only find brand-spanking-new Pokemon during your adventure. I think that's so great. For the first time in 15 years, its a Pokemon game where everything is new for the trainer to explore.

So RainbowYoshi, you better be ready to catch 'em all with the rest of us. We'll be waiting for you!

I cant wait to March 6 and I already have my White version preordered

I haven't played a Pokemon game since Gold on GB. I wasn't interested in this one at all until I read in Nintendo Power that (almost) all the Pokemon in B/W are new. I stopped playing because I couldn't wrap my brain around 250 and more added in each game. Does this one really only have 150ish? Should I get back into Pokemon on this game or go back to one of the earlier ones?

Every Pokemon you will encounter in the main adventure (aka by the time you start to when you beat the elite four) is completely new. In fact, no older Pokemon will be seen until after the main game.

I just love the fact that this game is like a fresh start for everyone playing. Brand new world, brand new Pokemon, brand new fun.

Also, the fact that you read Nintendo Power is awesome. Next issue should be awesome.

I never stopped reading Nintendo Power! Every time the subcription comes up to be renewed, I could never bring myself to cancel. It's just such a happy magazine!

How has the battle system changed in Pokemon since the early days? I really just like  solid, interesting, tactical battles, more so than actually "catchin 'em all".

Nice! What was your first issue? I started with issue 116 (N64 Castlevania baby. )

As for battling, if you haven't played since the GBC Gold/Silver, a lot has changed, but the core is still there. Here's some changes to the battles:

  • Pokemon now have abilities (introduced in Ruby/Sapphire), which is sort of like "Pokemon Powers" from the card game. Each Pokemon has its own power/ability that affects battles.
    • Example: Gyarados has the "Intimidate" ability, which lowers the opponents attack at the start.
  • Special/Physical attacks are no longer dependant on the element type (introduced in Diamond/Pearl).
    • Example: Gyarados has a massive Attack Stat, but the water attacks it knew were still under the Special Attack. This has changed, as every attack is not dependent on type. So an attack called Aqua Tail (a water attack) is now a Physical attack. Every elemental type has both Physical and Special attacks.
  • 1 v 1 battles are still the dominant type of battling. Still, Ruby/Sapphire introduced 2 v 2 battles and Black/White will introduce 3 v 3 battles.

First issue?? Lord I have no idea! The earliest issue I can remeber getting had a big strategy guide for Secret of Mana soo....yeah, it's been a long time!

The battle system sounds great and a lot more well rounded then the old games, by the end of the game it always came down to elemental rock paper scissors, this way seems to smooth things out and add some depth. Nice.
