Forums - General - So uhm dieting is actually hard. Help Me!

In my experience the easiest time to lose weight is during school breaks.

step one: sleep until noon, so your day starts with lunch (you may eat big portions)

step two: drink a lot (water if possible or at least something with only few calories) and eat some fruits until it's time for the next meal

step three: make yourself dinner with as few carbohydrates as possible (I ate 4 slices of toast). Don't go to bed immediatly after dinner or your body won't burn all calories. Again if you're still hungry after dinner grab some more fruits. Go to bed (some time around 1 or 2 am if possible).

If you are slightly hungry before going to bed, you're doing it right. When you wake up the next day you should be almost starving and ready for a big and yummy meal. Then repeat these steps.

Should be no problem to lose around 2 pounds each week with this method.

Feel free to do some sports, however it's unclear if this works with my pantented method :P

This sounds like a good opportunity to recommend games....

Buy a kinect and dance central. XD

LOL I was thinking about that. But I doubt my parents would buy me that. Perhaps recommend Wii exercise games besides Wii Fit?

No. I hate what exercise games have done to peoples heads, I'm sorry but I really can't see burning off calories playing wii fit.

What you should do is run until you have lost weight, then swim to keep it off.

Here are my simple rules for weight loss:

1. Avoid all fluids aside from water as much as you can. Your body doesn't count liquid calories like it does with real food.

2. Avoid sugar entirely.

3. Limit carbohydrates.

With these few rules I have lost 23 pounds over the past month.

Tease.

I lost 20 pounds by doing 3 things

1) counting calories (I used my-calorie-counter.com and acalloriecounter.com for stuff it didn't know but there are tons of different sites you can use)

2) weighing myself every day (Wii Fit)

3) exercising for 30-60m 4-5 times per week (biking and EA Sports Active mostly) with usually a 2-day on, 1-day off schedule.

Counting calories can be really useful if you can get into it. When I did that I knew exactly what I could eat, and I'd plan my snacks accordingly. A 200 calorie snack is essentially a meal, so I'd have 5 meals a day. with something like 300C, 500C, 500C, 200C, 200C in that order for a total of 1700 calories in a day. You need to burn 3500 calories to lose a pound, so figuring out how much you eat, and estimating how much you burn can help you set goals.

Weighing myself helped keep me honest. Every time I've weighed myself consistently I ate better and lost weight. When I stopped, I'd pack it back on. This is purely a psychological thing, but it helped me.

as for exercise, find something you enjoy. It doesn't really matter what it is so long as it gets your heart rate up and makes your muscles burn. EA Sports active is brutal on the legs (try doing squat jumps, then lung jumps, and then that stupid skating game where you hold a squat and then jump intermittently all in a row ) but it isn't for everyone.

Honestly, all the advice you should get should be similar to what I posted above. The reality is it is all about finding what works for you. Sure you can eat better while you are exercising (and you should anyways) but it isn't essential for losing weight. I would just suggest eating a balanced healthy diet, but no need to go overboard (look up the recommended amounts based on a 2000 calorie diet and then scale to your calorie intake goals). Want that piece of chocolate cake? Fine by me if you have the calories to spare.

Also, don't overdo it and lose to much weight. Make sure you have a healthy goal (simple BMI will help you with that despite its innacuracies). Also, losing more than 2lb a week is unhealthy and you generally bounce back afterward, so don't starve yourself either.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

How about you join a track team and run that grease off your body?

The number one tip!

DON'T DIET!

If you haven't yet, go take a Health class at your school, then if your school offers it weight training. Dieting off one thing is pretty bad, you really need to focus on avoiding sugar and trans fat.

This is a good site

http://www.mypyramid.gov/

It helps you find out what you should be focusing while eating. There's even a function where you put your age/height and it says the suggested amounts for you!

Eat healthy food, avoid thinking of junk food you like or seeing it (though, one time a week couldn't hurt).

If you can't completly get rid of junk food then slowly stop eating it and overtime you get used to it. Then repeat the cycle.

Working out is also great, join a sports team to keep you motivated, or play Wii fit or something. Those sales means its doing something right. If that doesn't work, well at least you can say I blame Wii Fit

Chew ice.

I heard its bad for the teeth long time ago. Something due to it being really cold for the teeth or something along those lines.

Oh, on another note. Cut out any drinks with calories as those really boost your calorie intake without making you feel full. Cutting down to either water or tea with no sugar is the best you can do. If you can't cut out soda, go diet.
