its motion control for PS3 owners,

pretty simple really

Which means 60 frames would be processed every second. Depending on how long the PS Eye actually takes to process the data (in fact, I think, but I'm not certain, that the PS3 still processes, unlike Kinect), that lag would be...miniscule. It's one extra dimension, so one extra co-ordinate, so...in theory, half as long again? Assuming, of course, that the PS3 and Wii processed at the same speed, which they don't.

So the technical side is still a mystery, but the fact remains that no recent reviews speak of any significant (game-breaking or visible) lag.

The Wii does not need any processing of the incoming data, the data can be instantly used as soon as it arrives in the Wii, just like standard controllers.

Both Kinect and Move however need the console to analyze incoming images and extract some information from the images before that information can be used by games. The 360 also processes by the way - the original "Project Natal" hardware shown at E3 2009 Kinect worked at 60Hz and the processing was done by special processors built into the Kinect hardware, but to reduce costs it's only 30Hz now and all processing is done by the 360 (which is the reason why lag was almost nonexistant at E3 2009, but is very noticable now).

But while lag is indeed a bit higher than on the Wii, I totally agree that Move's lag is stil so low that it's almost impossible to notice for humans, and that's all that counts in my opinion.

Yes, I just realised that the Wii doesn't do the processing, because the Wiimote is the camera. But the Wiimote still needs to process where the sensor bar is, so that takes time. And it still needs to transmit this information wirelessly to the Wii, where the PS Eye has a wired connection. And I'm not sure on the specifics of how WM works, but wouldn't it still need to know the position of the sensor bar in three dimensions?

I am on a limited connection so I'm unable to view that video, but are you able to merely flick your wrists to play Table Tennis? Or what kind of swing is necessary?

No it shows that you cant flick your wrist.

What I don't get is why people want it to be perfectly 1:1 accurate. Does we play videogames to be as bad in them than in real life? When I play a tennis game, I want to be as good as Rafa Nadal or Roger Federer, I don't want to be as bad as I'm in real life. Being 1:1 isn't fun, because then 95% of the players here won't win a single point against a virtual Tsonga, or a virtual Nalbandian.

This is why I think 1:1 is a fallacy, and we want to be helped when we play games, because real life is much harder than videogames, and most of the time being real isn't as funny as winning.

This is true whether people want to admit it or not. There are some simple, mundane exercises you can do in 1-to-1 and have fun, but when things get more complicated, you're limiting yourself to your real physical abilities. Have fun playing God of War and Tiger Woods golf.

Quoted for truth.

Some people here obviously never heard of the Difficulty Setting concept.  ¬_¬

We were talking strictly about 1-to-1 use of motion controller. As far as I remember, there is no "easy 1-to-1" and "hard 1-to-1." That is a ridiculous idea. =P 1-to-1 is just that... 1-to-1.

God I hate typing that (1-to-1) out constantly. We need to find an easier way to say it. like 121. >.>

Lol, I was going to say exactly the same thing, you beat me to it! 1:1 Is 1:1, easy or hard 1:1 is just silly. XD If it's made easier, then it's not 1:1.

And bytheway, there's the easy way to type it, 1:1.

Wow. So suddenly 1:1 means everything in the game is realistic, because im pretty sure in 1:1 game the ball is not going across the screen faster then you can blink. You guys cant just pick and choose, because there is no game on the wii that has a realistic speed on anything, nor would it help waggling the remote like you have to to hit the ball.

1:1 does not equal THE WHOLE GAME IS REALISTIC.

That video of Start the Party.....I thought the apocalypse would come before a game like that would hit the PS3. I used to go to Blockbuster and Disc Replay and make fun of Wii games because for every Brawl, there were 10 games to the tune of The Biggest Loser or The Price is Right (for $40...the price is WRONG lol) or Cook or Be Cooked.....now "Start the Party" is for PS3. Ugh

We've had our differences in the past but you are one of the few to stick to their guns and for that I salute you!

@ the poster  Im going to give it to you straight, Ive had both PS3 and Wii for over 2 years. I just got Move the other day. IT works better than Wiimote. End of story. even with motion plus. The camera makes all the difference. THe accuracy cant even compare. Anyone who says otherwise is lying and i doubt they have even touched a Move. So for hardware, Move wins. Wii fans love to pull the motion out their butts but I crap you not there are five games that support that Raquet Sports, RS2, 2 Tiger Woods games, and Sports Resort. Zelda aint coming out for a while and two of those games (Tiger Woods & Raquet Sports) are availble for Move. Red Steel 2 is good.

games is another story. Ill admit the launch library aint that great. but im optimistic because what is coming is looking good in my opinion. KZ3, Socom, LBP2, Fight, TIme Crisis, Sorcery.

If you have PS3 I wouldnt waste money on Wii unless you really want those 1st party games, the 3rd party support has been abysmal. A bundle is 100, that 100 less than Wii. Hell if you know where to look you can get the camera for about 25 dollars and 50 for the Move controller if you wanna wait for the good stuff to come. If you dont have either system, well thats the tricky part, even though I prefer PS3 motion control or not, If all you care about is simple motion then Im sorting leading toward Wii

You know there are more than five games that support Wii Motion Plus right?  I mean if you're going to take a tone of "anyone else who says differently is lying" at least be honest yourself.

You guys have all got it wrong!

The difference is in the games.

The Wii has games.

Thats the difference.

True. I was expecting a better lineup for move :/ Sports champions wont justify me to get one. But a shooter will, or something with swords(star wars hellooo).

However what i think will happen is that more multiplatform games for PS/Wii will happen, as developers are more encouraged to develop good motion games. And i think we'll begin to see that mid 2011 and later on. So as a Wii owner im satisfied with this without getting move. But if you'd had to choose as someone who has neither a PS3 or a wii, it depends on the games and i think the move is better than the wii mote from what i've seen

Edit: God people, can we just accept that the move has been released -.-

Except I don't think so. I don't think the PS3 owners will accept Wii games which have been ported and I don't think the market is large enough to focus on a PS3 version with Move from the ground up due to the higher development costs. We've already seen that games which just have had the Wiimote tacked on haven't sold that well on the Wii. So I think that cross platform element is more theoretical than a reality.
