That's pretty comparable with some packages other providers here offer. They don't have use cable, their broadband is through normal phonelines so they can't offer the speeds or data capacity that the cable provider does.

Well, we've got I believe it's 5Mb/s internet (unlimited), with unlimited phone (except 900 numbers) and about 70 channels, and that package runs about $110/month. I do know where I lived before here, the package rate on this there was $120, or you could pay $45/month if you had cable TV, or as a complete standalone, it was $60/month.
Yeah, the US also has crappy pricing for internet...

The US is one of the worst countries in the western world for infrastructure. I have heard investment will improve matters but it will be more than 10 years before you get to parity with others.
Not often it sucks to be Stateside but it does if you use the Internet

I think it is mainly the states in the upper-east of the US that get the worst of it.
NYS for example has HORRIBLE pricing. Look at my dl/ul and I pay 25 a month and it is constantly cutting out.
Here in France :
-5 to 20 Mb/s (depending on where do you live)
-no data limit
-unlimited phone call (for inner-country calls and certain international calls)
-free TV offer with lots of channels
>>>29,99€/month (or : 15€/month without TV offer and without unlimited phone calls (but in this case, you must have a "France Telecom" subscription : 16€/month)
