Forums - Sales - 20 Best Selling New IPs of 2010

Wii Party???

It would be topping the list if released WW. 8 weeks of Wii Party WW would blow Heavy Rain away and rightly so.

Are we considering it a sequel to Mario Party or Wii Play or something? I hope it's not the old 'Wii ...... are all the same IP' crap.

I thought the whole Wii______ was a franchise thing. Like how Final Fantasy games have nothing to do with each other, but they're all called Final Fantasy________ or even Metal Gear_______

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Honestly I'd class the Wii series as a franchise I mean it basically is, and I'm not trying to sell it short it's probably the most successful IP of all time but I just don 't consider each new game to be a new IP. Similarly any Kinect titled games that don't come out on launch day won't be counted and I won't be counting any titles similar to Mario vs Sonic either, I know it's  a little strict and probably not 100% right but I'm trying to make it a list of purely new IPs

Very interesting how 7 out of 10 multiplatforms sold better on ps3 and 3 that sold more on xbox are all in bottom half and that includes that Dragon game :)

The problem with a list like this is that it short changes games that come out near the end of the year. A game that comes out in December or November only has a handful of weeks to sell compared to a game that comes out in January and has 12 months to sell.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Wii Party is part of the Wii Series.

FIFA 10 and FIFA World Cup 2010 are the same FIFA IP.

Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Rising are the same Metal Gear IP.

Halo 3 and Halo Wars are the same Halo IP.

If you want to include Wii Series games into lists like this. Get Nintendo to think of a new name for the games.

We just Blue Shelled your idea.

What shocks me the most is that there are 20 new IP's this year O_o

I'm not really feeling the success of new IPs this year. There's nothing wrong with the sales of the games in the list with respect to themselves but there's nothing particularly massive by general standards. I mean, only four of them have topped a million so far, and none have hit two million...

I'm sure we've seen better years in respect of sales for new IPs, but then again, there's still 3 months to go.
