2010 is promising to be very good with Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, Starcraft II, Fallout: New Vegas and Red Dead Redemption. But I think 2008 was the best year of this generation for me; Gears of War 2, Fallout 3, GTA IV were some of my all time favorites. Next to that there were some great games like Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Devil May Cry 4, Grid and Ninja Gaiden II.

I'm quit disappointed though with this holiday season, since Fallout: New Vegas is the only game that's appealing imho.

2011 will be even greater.

2010 has been very good (though as someone else said a little light towards the end of the year), but there is still 4 or 5  great games to come:

• Dead Rising 2
• F1 2010
• AC Brotherhood
• Fallout NV
• GT5

If you are a big fan of war shooters then there is COD and MOH.

But for me, i think 2011 is going to be the year, as slime has said, there are alot of games coming out, and especially in the first quarter. But i think 2010 can be considered a very good year.

2011 could be my favorite/Best year for me because it already has a load of good games and plus my 2 favorite franchises of all time might both have games next year...

Pikmin 3 and Resident Evil 6 could both come out in 2011.

1995-1996 are my pick..... golden years....

Well that's the truth. I've played most of those RPG games you listed, besides the golden sun franchise. And I liked or loved all the ones you listed.

At FFX-2... it was made for the fans (and for monetary reasons who'm I kidding! :P) but a lot of the fans didn't like it anyways... but I was a fan that did XD.

My point is as well as yours is. Is best year... is completely based on preference. Unless you use a barometer of say Metacritic or gamesrankings, which is based on random revieweres preference.

Maybe it's the most "hyped" year or games with the most "hyped sequals" but even then you can't measure "Hype" as far as I know. but imo it was incredibly hyped

It's possibly it was the most hyped year in my eyes. But then that's still an opinion unless someone has an objective way to measure it.

Great Responce, and you should try the Golden Sun games. At least the GBA installments, the DS one looks meh. It's like Final Fantasy meets Zelda, meets Pokemon, meets Disgaea, and they made a 2 part unfinished trilogy with it.

As for measuring hype, I think 2010 will be known for a year where a lot of promised and anticipated sequels were released. I mean it's been almost 6 years for Gran Turismo, 3 for Halo, 14 for Donkey Kong Country, 13 for a proper Goldeneye, 4 for Final Fantasy, 12 for Starcraft, and about 7 for Golden Sun. A lot of long waited sequels..

However 2011 has Duke Nukem, thats just going to be crazy. Soo many cancellations, and a half finished engine by 3D Realms, I HOPE IT COMES!!!!! Same with Pikmin 3, and Resident Evil 6 (with a proper single player campaign, just go back to killing white people, then it's not racist and you game won't be butchered).

@TheSource: You missed Civilization V and you're saying there's not much in strategy games... Anyway, this seems to have been mentioned even before me.

A good year indeed, many interesting games. Not that I am interested in most of them but at least there are a few games. What a pity most of them release near holiday season, it could be pretty expensive... LBP2, AC: Brotherhood, GT5. And Civ V earlier. I guess I'll have to wait until their prices drop a bit, I simply can't afford them all. (Yes, that excuse is actually real and then there's people who are buying at least one game per month...)
