Well, I can't remember well, but 2009 wasn't a stellar year for PSP (Despite all the arguments I was in about it), I think 2010 is much better.

i think that nintendo must start doing what everysone is doing, they must start pumping out new ips, i dont want another platformer, i think its time they started producing mature games, while at the same time giving their casual audience, casual games.
Being in 3rd place never felt so good

Nintendo have made a crap load of new IPs, they are just not that major or good selling (with the exception of Wii..., Nintendogs and Brain Training)

The most one sided generation was likely the NES. Then PS2 |
C64 sold like 30 millions! Amiga sold few units too! Those old computers were pretty much like consoles, used just for gaming in most cases.

edit:
WTF? WII IS DOWN NEARLY 50% YTD SOFTWARE SALES WISE?! |
For one week, wait you were reading that part. <.<
Edit: Seriously read the YTD part...not the week part.

The first half was definitely much better for PSP sales this year. Still, considering it got games like KH0 and MGS5 in the period, sales are pretty pathetic.

Well it is the PSP, when compared to all consoles (edit: and DS). It looks really lacking, I mean it is almost comparable to PS2 of last year.
Edit: Also when I do say that, I mean relative to the other consoles and handheld.

Europe was the only market where custom computer formats were still at all relevant. In America they never took off, and in Japan MSX, PC88/98, FM7, X1, etc were irrelevant after the mid 80s (and their followups like MSX2/FMTowns/X68000 flopped, while NEC went to consoles entirely with PC Engine).
NES and Famicom utterly dominated America and Japan though, more than any other single platform ever has since, and likely ever will... the only thing even comparable is the sort of domination Game Boy/Advance enjoyed.

They will never go back to mature games.
Gamecube was the most mature console they ever made and it's sales were pitiful. The Wii might be the least mature console they've ever made and it's their highest selling console ever.
