lol @ using Sony shipped GT5P figures against 3rd party tracked Halo numbers.  As if shipped vs sold wasn't bad enough, there's also the fact that you can also download Halo 3, and those numbers aren't figured either.

You all realize that SCE basically gave away 300k copies of GT5P in Japan, right?  And according to trackers, it only actually sold ~250k at retail?

Again, when was Halo 3 released on the marketplace? And if you look at the sales of previous titles and compare them to Polyphony's numbers, they're actually very close.

Also, the only Japanese PSN sales we've ever gotten were for Persona PSP, which sold 10k digitally (compared to 150k at retail).  And that was on PSP, a system which has 3 times the userbase PS3 does... digital sales in Japan, from all accounts, are an extreme minority.  Unless you can cite any source saying GT5P sold 100k or more online, it's best to just leave those potential sales aside and simply compare like with like (ie: tracked retail).

You guys should really stop fighting, seriously. Every hardcore gamer knows that Halo is highly supported in America, but so is Gran Turismo. Most people I know are just waiting for the collectors edition to arrive at Amazon. Also the talk about which will have better life time sales. I think it is easy to say GT because almost every GT game has reached 10 mil or came real close to it. And if someone wants to be a fanboy and fight. Bring it the _____ on.

@Hyruken: To respond to your query about the fallacious logic, then no, it's not about the main argument, as I don't give 2 shits about it (nice try, though), it's just about your logic of calling bullshit on a publisher's numbers, when it's easy to figure out that PSN sales aren't accounted for here.

Fair enough, why didn't you just say that then go off one some sort of nerd rage crusade? I am not a mind reader!

As i said in my post before the flameballs came raining down. I was talking about VGC numbers. Anytime a software company talks about sales i take it with a pinch of salt. Because as Jaord pointed out shipped numbers will always be higher then sold. If MS said Halo 3 shipped 15m i would not take that to mean sold. IS that not what we do on this website? If someone say's they shipped 30m consoles do we add those figures to the console totals? No we don't. So that logic which you call fallacious in my opinion is normal logic.

Sure there will be higher figures due to downloads. But that is a whole different thing. You can't bash me for not including them and that is what you did. I used VGC numbers, that is all i did and you went of on one that i didn't include downloads!

I said I would stop there, but I guess I lied.

Ok, I'm man enough to admit I handled the situation wrong, but do you really think there's that many copies sitting on shelves? I simply can't imagine that. I'm pretty sure the PSN sales account for a quite a good number of the difference between VGC's sales and PD's sales.

Exactly, 2 months ago, man. Compared to GT5:P sales which were available 2 years ago.

Now as for Japanese PSN sales: I didn't know you were responding to aragod. My bad. I questioned you because I thought you were talking about overall sales.

As i said i am sure downloads for Prologue would amount to a good share. The problem is as i mentioned way before Jerod did that if you use one games downloads or assume a number is correct you have to do the same for all the others in the list. That way you see an acurate list. Obviously we have no way of doing that as downloads can't be tracked. If they were then all games that can be downloaded would gain some form of an increase.

Maybe i didn't make myself clear and that contributed to the misunderstanding, if so, my bad.

Think some of you guy's need to relax, listen to yourselves. Your saying i am embarassing myself because i did not include download figures from a different website. Well sorry that i did not know that prologues numbers on here were not downloads, sorry that i did not know that vgc is wrong and the right figures are over on Sony's website etc etc. In future from now on i will do extensive research in the lab and ring up every person whoever bought a game just to confirm those are the right sales, that should avoid embarrasment right?

As for the rest of it your talking bollocks. Prologue was always a discount title, it was never released as full price. I got it in it's first week for £19.99. As i said it price ranges. Here are a few links to proove that

http://www.game.co.uk/Games/PlayStation-3/Racing/Gran-Turismo-5-Prologue-Platinum/~r341520/?s=gran turismo

http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;0;-1;-1;-1&sku=913928

As i said ranges from £12-£19. But i was wrong, my bad. Amazon sell it for £11.

The difference is Prologue STARTED at around those prices (19.99). Halo didn't. The point of the downloads thing which you obviously missed was if your going to take one games downloads into account then at least do the same for the rest of the list. You might call that "fallacy", i would call it being fair. I have no idea how many Halo's were downloaded, in truth i could not care less. But there would of been downloads for them, you don't know those figures, to ignore them again just makes what your saying look biased.

Look at what your arguing about. The fact that i said Halo is selling at 4 to 1 over GT5 in US based on preorders. That must have really hit a nerve for you to get so wound up!

The problem is that you are still spewing out BS, instead of backing off and trying to keep atleast some dignity you are still trying so hard and still doing the same mistakes.

I see you are a huge amazon fan, so let's shut you up for good:

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue - £32.59 TODAY (2 years after release)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gran-Turismo-5-Prologue-PS3/dp/B000E69YGQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1277904982&sr=8-2

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Platinum Edition - £11.95 (Platinum edition is kind of bestsellers re-release)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gran-Turismo-5-Prologue-PS3/dp/B000E69YGQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1277904982&sr=8-2

Prologue didn't start at £19.99, that was the price for the re-released greatest hits edition (Platinum Titles). Prologue therefor wasn't allways discounted title, you are the one talking bollocks and grasping at straws. Now you've been schooled so many times that it's getting boring.

Seriously you are making no sense at all. You just linked Amazon saying it was £32 then linked the one i linked saying it was £11....How does that make what i say wrong? I mean come on now your just arguing for the sake of arguing. Your claiming i am talking BS but yet you just supported what i said....

The non platinum Prologue i doubt is sold much anymore. But after a bit of research into it i have found a few places that do still at least have that version up on the website

http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?productcode=PX0174&title=gran_turismo_5_prologue

http://gamestation.co.uk/Games/PlayStation-3/Racing/Gran-Turismo-5-Prologue/~r407624/?d=1z13fwhZ1z13fu4

None of them are above £18.....

What i find even more funny is your attack saying i am wrong that Prologue was not a full price title.....How quick you are to bash me and say i am wrong/scrapping the barrel/embarrasing myself etc.. As the old saying goes if your going to bash someone at least be right with what your bashing them about! Here is Sony's blog confirming prologues price....

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/01/29/gran-turismo-5-prologue-priced-and-dated/

$39. Or £26. Which by my maths is quite a way short of the full price you claim. So thanks for the schooling, but i prefer to be taught by someone who actually knows what they are talking about.

So that means you were wrong about the 4 to 1 ratio being false. Wrong about prologues price now, wrong about prologues initial price, Jarod just pointed out your wrong about the shipped/downloaded figures. And you say i am embarassed?

As i said before. For the love of god do us all a favour and take your biased replies elsewhere. Your scrapping the barrel trying to get as many numbers for GT5 as you can while ignoring all the others. What will you add next, the amount of people who picked up a Prologue box to look at the back?!

1) You see GT5 Prologue selling for £33 even today. Than you see discounter greatest hits version for £12. So that's hardly the £26 you claim it was priced for. It wasn't a full price release, but it wasn't discount bin either.

2) You link places that sell GT Prologue today for a price under £20, but what's that supposed to prove? Even Uncharted 2 costs aroud the same ammount today and that was released several months ago and recieved the most GOTY titles ever. Even your precious Halo 3 doesn't sell for over £20. So you didn't supported your claim one bit.

So in the end, you've failed yet again, I'm losing the count of your many fails and getting bored.

First you've tryied to chicken out after realising that Prologue sold nearly 5 milion copyies despite beeing just demoversion, than you've tryied to bash it with a release price, where your supposed claim support was basicaly linking it's prices 2 years after release. Yet amazon proved you wrong. So what's next? How are you going to amuse me now?

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

MOH PS3 is killing Black Ops for the moment in pre-orders. I have a feeling that it will change once the beta is over.

Sorry, my Google translate link didn't bring me to right page.  In Japan, Halo 3 evidently got it's digital/platinum release in Feb 2009, well over a year ago.

I think GT will have better life time sales, due to the EMAA/Japan market. Halo reach will more than likely outsell GT in America. That's just my educated guess. lol

As for amusing you, i suggest looking up a psychologists number
