If they sell a bundle with Kinect and Console for $300 - they will be making big losses

You have the figures ?

It's a very popular, educated guess.

Natal is probably being sold at MS's lowest point at the moment (ie Break even point). With a $300 bundle they are losing $150 - plus or minus any profit on the new 360 model.

Also take into account Kinect's huge marketing costs.

Care to disagree with my points? My intellectual superior...

Oh no, I wouldn't dare to defy your points based on..... well, your total understanding, and superior knowledge about the X360 and kinect well supported with.... well, I can't say proof. But your total (help me out here) yes.... random numbers about it.

I think for all of the households that ALREADY have an Xbox, odds are good that if there's a daughter/wife/grandmother in the house, Kinect would be a likely purchase.

For all those households without out one, no. Assuming the Kinect kits are $150 on top of a $300 console, no. Everyone will not be buying this. That is simply not accessible enough. If that's the pricing scenario, most of those with casual interest who said "yes, I'd like to play that!" will end up saying "no, I won't pay that much."

I think the demographic for the 360 is the 18-30 male, which is less likely to have a daughter/wife/grandmother in the house.

MSFT may be trying to shift the demographic which would be great for the sales. Natal Kinetic could help them fit more in the 18 - 45 range. The best part is with Kinetic I should not be getting the calls saying "oh, I broke my TV with my Wii. Is that covered under my insurance?"

They were battling Sony with the "you can get a 360/Wii for the same price as a PS" gimick. Now you can leave out the Wii and get the same sort of experience in one package (at least that is what I believe they are shooting for)

I expect them to have a plan. We'll see just how many new "megatons" it includes, but saying they made a fatal mistake seems premature, when they held events for showcasing these games. They weren't leaked in any way, they were shown to the press, it's a pretty important difference.

ms showed gears 3 to the press too....

it's just a prediction

And I'm just saying that I think your prediction is wrong.

well, as I said no one expected MS confference to be like this.... and they also seemed to have a shiny confference

But unlike Microsoft, Sony have been announcing several big games up to E3. Even if Sony only show the games they have already announced from their own developers, they'll still have shown more core games than Microsoft, where Microsoft showed two games that were multiplat and announced one new exclusive from a third party.

And that's without Resistance 3, Ape Escape and whatever else we can guess is coming.

W.T.F?

Natal is priced at $150, the new console is priced at $299. That's all you need to know, and a bit of basic Business understanding.

$150 $299 = $449

If they are selling that for $300 - Guess what, chances are they'l be making a loss.

Stupid that Microsoft put's the new 360 in the market like that. No time to promote AT ALL. Sony builded up a giant hype to september when it released. Now they released it in a low selling season. Now not many people will buy it , and when the holiday season is here the hype will be over

The flip side of that was that Sony's sales plummeted for July and August as a result of the wait.  I believe NPD had the PS3 once again dipping below the PS2 for those months.  Microsoft understandably would prefer to avoid that.

lol people have to be joking"microsoft won e3"?? If sony nor nintendo top that underwhelming show 2010 e3 is a flop. They didnt show any games that would make a causal gamer pick kinect over the wii. The only hardcore games they showed were multi platform and gow and halo reach and i had so much interest in fable 3 but that demo was horrible. I mean the espn thing is pretty cool but making all your xbox interface voice activated and motion sensing isn't very amazing. Its like voice recognition on your cell phone, you play around with it in the beginning than you never use it again. While watching the chick do the kick boxing you clearly see how much kinect lagged behind her movements. What really gets me is where was the kinect intergation with HD games like halo reach or alan wake i didnt care about the wii sports.I dont get how people are saying this new xbox 360 at the same price point of the current ps3 will cause trouble, anyone with half a mind can see the ps3 still has more hardware and features in the current console. All this is my option but really?

That could have been video lag.  You know like how music games need you to calibrate your system sometimes because different screens have different lags.

But either way, no one showing it off seemed to have any problems successfully controling the games they were playing.

I wanted kinect to play traditional type games like Oblivion (NPC interaction) or to try on action games. I saw nothing like that, hense I have no interest in Kinect any more.  At this point Sony is probably going to top them with Move because at least it has non-gimicky games like Socom 4.

Fable 3 did look pretty weak, if they were so damned focused on Kinect why didn't they show us how it works in Fable 3?

I disagree. The Fable III trailer looked better than just about any of the trailers I saw for Fable II.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

My hype for Fable 3 dropped. and I will not be purchasing it now. The first Fable is one of the most pathetic pieces of *expletive word here* I have ever played in my entire life. and I will be selling the 2nd one off on eBay.

Lets see, new Xbox cost $299, has 250 gbs, and has Built in WIFI. SOLD! Besides, I needed to get one anyways. Along with a PSP and maybe a Wii, but that's for another time now.
