why wouldn't they be happy?
they just sold at least 1M units more than they would have if the game was exclusive to Sony's PS3.

Yes and No, Those who bought it for the 360 but owned both consoles, would have had to bought it for the Ps3 if it was still exclusive, It may have even boosted hardward for the Ps3 if it was still exlcusive, but yes overall it did boost, just thought id point that little bit out

Yeah, but that's something you really can't quantify.  We could go back and forth with things like well, lets say 20% of people who bought it on the 360 would have bought it on the PS3 if it were exclusive and then someone else could say but only 10% of 360 owners have PS3's so that number can't be that high and well there are also the collectors that bought the game twice or more because it was multiplayerform! and blah blah blah.  In the end everyone is just making up numbers that they can provide absolutely no proof for.

What we can show is how many it sold on the PS3 and how many it sold on the 360.  As I said above, it sold well more than a million on the 360 which is more than enough to cover most current gen games so they made their money back.

It was a good decision on theirs and our part (since more people get to play it).  Anyone who says otherwise is just deluding themselves and showing how selfish they are.

1 Million units.

Possibly 2 Million units by the time it's done.

Yeah. Square Enix are happy.

there is no way 1million people boycotted final fantasy because square decided to make it multiplatform. The number is probably closer to 1000. The game would have sold 1.14mil and counting less if it wasn't multiplatform so yes square is happy.

If people are dumb enough to think the people that would have bought FFXIII in the first place and then boycotted and then finally never bought it should look at this picture:

clicky

It was undoubtedly a good decision.

It was good for gamers and it was good for SE. If people didn't boycott FFVII for changing platform, I doubt they will boycott FFXIII for expanding to another one.

I LOVE ICELAND!

It turned out pretty well looking @ sales for the game on the 360.

The only thing bad for Square is that they've lost another chunk of their 'usual audience' with the release of the game itself...

I wont say they are 100% happy. There was that survey they released not too long ago. After seeing Final Fantasy XIII's sales numbers, Square Enix wanted to know why you purchased the game on the system you bought the game for. I'm not sure if the survey is still up through.

Should have kept it exclusive but look at the bright side, at least it wasn't like Tekken 6 where the PS3 version was garbage compared to the xbox version.

square enix didnt sale any more games going multiplat. the people who did buy it would have bought it if had been exclusive. if they had made it a xbox exclusive the sales would still equal ps3+360 totals....or if they had moved it to the wii.
the point is its final fantasy the people who want to play final fantasy buy it...the same way if you want to play mario games you buy a nintendo
