Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 50 million sold

Probably will boil down to how well these 3 key factors will do:

- 3D implementation

- Move + Move games

- GT5 (and other possible big HD games / exclusives)

Looking forward to: FF Versus XIII / LBP2 / The Last Guardian / Yakuza 4 / ICO Collection

Sold to consumers? I don't think so.

Main reasons being -

360 Pricecut/Natal + Potential Slimline will slow down PS3 sales unless Move has a big system selling game that appeals to the casual market.

To keep sales up, like the previous Holiday season, they will need a REAL slimline, another pricecut, colours... Or a huge system seller in November/December. If we see any of them, i think it will only be colours... Which i don't think will be enough to keep sales at the level of last year.

Now... Shipped. Maybe. I'm expecting them to announce a 14/15 Million target for the fiscal year. But they could possibly go higher.

15 million in less than a year? no I don't think so.

remember your little thread saying that even with a price cut, sony wont make the 13 million prediction for april 2010?

I don't remember making a thread, though I do remember claiming similar things in some posts regarding a $50 cut, perhaps I also said it wouldn't happen with a $100 cut, but I said nothing about a new model. All that pushing Sony has done and they only just managed 13 million.

Don't get me wrong though, I do think it could be close. I think it should finish the fiscal year 2011 with 13-14 million. (so about 47-48 million in total)

I think they can make it... If they can manufacture it ! If shortgages are not solved in the US, it might get hard

The PS3 is back on track since the release of the Slim, and has plenty of great games to attract consumers.

Sure, we don't know exactly what are tomorrow's exclusive blockbusters (beside GT5) but Sony made some good impressions with Move and even their 3D stuff might give them some more momentum and that kind of stuff could attract a broader audience

Last year, I did not believe they could reach their goal but they did it, so it seems they've found back their mojo (partially at least)

I think this is possible

E3 2015 Wishlist:

Ratchet & Clank (PS4)
Mass Effect 4 (MEH)
Age of Empires IV (PC)
Quantic Dream (PS4)
Mario 3D (Wii U)
Banjo-Kazooie (XOne)

" ONLY" 13 million. Most people in this site including me saw it as impossible. We laughed at Sony for suggesting such number. The source had articles to show how impossible it would be, now we are saying "only",  give me a break.

I want to know why people claim that Natal is going to be such a weapon against PS3.

I don't get, weren't we hearing within the past couple months that companies aren't as excited about it as they were at the beginning?

no doubting please i've taken a beatting from you guies already? ha ha.
like i said before but clarified. 34m now another 13m by the end of the yr. and 13-17m by the end of 2011. i think so but i think they can do better. 75m or more.

Add in the fact that there has been shortages... And it makes the 13 Million even more impressive.

I can't wait to see how many Sony have actually shipped.

Another thing to think about is Sony has probably ramped up manufactoring to meet demand and within the FY Sony will discontinue the production run of the PS2.

Moving those lines into PS3 development as well.
