I really don't think so. I mean, all the consoles are comfortable, but that was the case last generation (with the exception of Dreamcast), and the question of success is defined by goals, and in those cases i think Sony and Microsoft have failed, Microsoft was clearly gunning for market leadership this time, but definitely doesn't have that, and Sony was trying to replicate the success of having the hot new multimedia format drive their console to new heights, which it hasn't.

Nope. The profit/loss we are all referring to is from their quartly/yearly financial documents which includes any revenues coming in from software and other stuff. Their entire divisions that contain the PS360 are in the red. With the exception of small profits from MS's division over the last two quarters, I think 2, however it is still dwarfed by the massive losses from years previous; and that's not including original xbox's losses.

Not its not. You could argue the same about the financials but in the end they balance out. Not as bad reliability issues vs greater financial issues and vice versa.

Pokémon isn't the juggernaut series it used to be. But I sure would want a Pokémon MMO.

You really don't need to own the winner this Generation as it was for the PS2 to play the best games.

Financially, It's been a a disaster for Sony, tons of lost opportunity ( PSP) and the Amazing first party games.

MS made the worst hardware ever but ended up fixing it, had a huge advantage game wise and 3rd party support wise. They have taking advantage of what they do best and will benefit greatly. No matter what, it's been a good Generation for MS.

Nintendo made the most, sold the most and included no one else. They are the best business i have seen run, maybe Apple might be close. They know what their market want and they give it to them. Their system sell Nintendo games mostly and that's the way they like it. They might win the next 2 Generation by huge margins.

And KillerMan, agreed... so far.  It depends on how long this gen continues and how much longer the 360 and PS3 keep selling.
