Whoa, I've only seen half of those. I think I want a Vii 2 just to have the world's ugliest system.

I am quite certain that most or all of these controllers were developed independently of the Wii-mote. What's more, back in 1986 I saw this guy over at my friends house standing up and shaking his controller around manically while playing an unidentified game. In retrospect it seems likely that this was part of the early stages of Vii controller R+D.

is there an option for those that don't care about motion controls?

Epic thread. I think we need more quotes from Sony and MS about the Wiiremote and Wii. They both were pretty much scoffing both the idea of expanding the audience and new control.

I've tried to search some Microsoft quotes but it seems that since middle 2007 they changed their speech about motion control (maybe they already were in negotiations about Natal) so Microsoft quotes on the wiimote are "rare".

Haha, you weren't kidding.

I just spent an hour digging for some foot in mouth gold from MS, but it came up pretty thin.  Nothing at all concrete in fact, of anyone associated with MS dismissing or even insulting the wiimote specifically.  On the contrary, I found some strong praise from them regarding Nintendos direction, even as far back as 2006.  Here are the three most relivant quotes I could find, the first one is the only one that attempts to dismiss motion controls but they are talking about the sixaxis not the wiimote.

"At Microsoft we did the same controller six years ago -- most people remember that," Moore said. "The gamers' response was muted at best. We remember it being applicable to flying games in particular and some driving games but overall there was somewhat of a collective yawn from the gaming community about the motion-sensing technology."

And thats followed by some fairly strong praise from Moore about the wiimote specifically back in 2006:

""They're also doing, with the Wii controller, which eventually I'll go and get my hands on, things that are innovative that, from the moment I saw them in Tokyo, I was quoted that day as saying that I loved the innovation and that has stayed with me forever, and I don't back down from that, but I think we're in different spaces as two different companies that can certainly coexist and complement each other. " - Link

And this last one is sort of funny, but not an attack on motion controls or the Wii, more just flat out ironic.  This ones from 2009.

“I think that, knowing Microsoft in particular, obviously, is that they are constantly thinking three to five years ahead of where consumer behavior is going to be,” - Peter Moore - Link

oh really pete?  Then how come they are playing catch up four years after the fact?

Anyways, after looking thourgh all the quote I could I'd say that Natal belongs on this list.  Even though it doesn't work exactly like the wiimote, the inspiration for bringing it to market is obviously Nintendos success with motion controls.

I know this is off-topic, but I would like to know how to do a thread in the forum, I can't find how :(

Above: still the best game of the year.

Epic thread!!

MY ZELDA COLLECTION

@ ThegameFather

Yeah, I've been following close the motion control trash talking by Sony and Microsoft since the Wii launched and I know that Microsoft was quick to change their minds about the Nintendo new path.

I came back to this thread and it still makes me laugh. Anyone got anymore Wii ripoffs?

This thread could be useful.

By the way, could release date be added and order for more epicness?
