@TheSource great post you are a good calculator
Just a quick update on the worldwide marketshare (April 9, 2007) before games like Guitar Hero 360 and Paper Mario begin affecting things.
Total Hardware sold: 19.41 million
Worldwide Marketshare (4/9/07)
Xbox 360 - 49.87% (The dip below majority status has occured with the Euro adjusted data)
Wii - 33.90% (Continued big gains in Japan)
PS3 - 16.23% (likely 1st in Europe in sales at the moment, 2nd in Japan leading to gain in marketshare)
Japanese Marketshare (4/9/07)
Wii - 63%
PS3 - 26%
360 - 11%
Others Marketshare (4/9/07)
360 ~ 54.33%
Wii ~ 30.33%
PS3 ~ 15.33%
Americas (4/9/07 - 10 days pre March NPD)
360 - 60%
Wii - 26%
PS3 - 14%
(Best Market for each console from strongest to weakest - 360 - Americas, Others, Japan Wii - Japan, Others, Americas, PS3 - Japan, Others, Americas)
At the moment, Microsoft and Nintendo are roughly as strong as each other in the US & Japan (by %)
By the end of the year I expect total hardware sold to equal 43 million with the breakdown as follows:
Wii ~ 44.5%
360 ~ 35%
PS3 ~ 20.5%

Great update.
360 sitting at basically 50% marketshare... That year head-start should have bought them more time than this...
With 360 still well below 10 million, and doing less than 500K a month WW, Wii could catch 360 really fast.
We'll see if Wii numbers get adjusted downwards a little bit though...
"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."
Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
I think the Wii will catch 360 over Xmas at the latest. Maybe as early as September if Nintendo can ship enough. Seriously, if they could ship 4M tomorrow they could probably sell through those in a week...
360 has had slow sales, plus they squandered the first 6 months of their lead. And they are selling in only 2/3 markets. But that 10M head start will probably keep them ahead of PS3 forever and that is all they need to do to guarantee that they get 99% of all the 3rd party games that the PS3 gets.
Worldwide Marketshare (4/16/2007)
19.71 million sold total
360 - 49.4%
Wii - 34.3%
PS3 - 16.3%
Japan (3.42 million hardware sold):
Wii - 63%
PS3 - 26%
360 - 11%
Americas (10.15 million hardware sold)
360 - 60%
Wii - 26%
PS3 - 14%
Others (6.14 million hardware sold)
360 ~ 53.25%
Wii ~ 32%
PS3 ~ 14.75%

Your "Others" numbers are in error, PS3 is 14.8% market share there.
