Forums - Nintendo - What are you hoping for in Metroid Other M.

Shinesparking, vertical world design and momentum based puzzles. Y'know, the "other half" of the traditional Metroid experience that Retroid sucked at.

I sucked at that in Fusion and Metroid III. Such a pain in the ass to do.

And frankly, it was only useful to get extra missle/super bomb tanks.  I wouldn't mind if it wasn't present in Other M.  Sure its a fancy extra feature that sets the game apart from other 2D games, but this game isn't exactly a 2D game.  Hopefully this version will have NEW fancy features that don't require so much repetition and can be used in the main game as well as just exploring for extra missle tanks.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Simply that it won't suck. I'm extremely skeptical(yet hopeful) over this game.

I'd like 2D gameplay. So it will play like Metroid, not somethign else. Maybe control Samus with controlstick and point the wii remote to have her shoot in any direction. I also hope that there's not much more in terms of story than what you get in the trailer. I want it to play like a Metroid game, at least more Metroidlike than Prime 3. I just hope it doesn't suck.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

As long as the new fancy features aren't as hard as shinesparking.

Might i ask what Shinesparking is? I've probably done it before, but i wouldn't know it by that name...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

ater looking at the 1 video of Other M, Im wondering if maybe this game will be on rails, I just cant wrap my head around how exactly you can switch between so many different gameplay modes without needing some guidance

A 2D Metroid using IR to aim as someone suggested here is definitely something I could get behind. A plot heavy game where I "get to know Samus' fragile side"... is not.

So I guess what I'm hoping for with Other M is that Nintendo release Metroid Dread, which hopefully would not be plot heavy, alongside it on DS. To cover their asses from potential backlash.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I hope for the main game to be in 2.5D only turning into F/TP perspective at specific times in the game, may them be boss fights, interacting areas, puzzles.

Um... I hope this doesn't count as bumping a thread... but...

When I saw the preview at E3, I was like: yeah, cool, whatever. But after re-watching the other trailers, I got more and more excited, and right now I've finally realized how awesome this game is going to be! I have Metroid Fusion, which takes place after Other M. I'm going to get on the Wii Shop Channel right now so I can buy Super Metroid, the prequel to Other M. I want this game to make sense, so that it will be even more fun.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
