Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Direct (Sept 2026): Expectations & Wishes

Well, it’s that time of the year again. What are your wishes and expectation for the upcoming Nintendo Direct?

Honestly, just so long as we get to see some more Zelda and Xenoblade (and just maaaaaybe Metroid Ravenous), I’m happy. Wishing for some Pikmin NS2 Editions, alongside perhaps a tease for a new game… though maybe it’s too soon for that.

We already know 3D Mario, Xenoblade, and Pokémon WiWa are coming new year, honestly I don’t care whether they want to drop their heavy-hitters of 2027 now or if they want to wait to share.

Not really sure what to expect as far as new announcements go.

We'll get the obvious showcase of the Ocarina of Time remake. Wonder if the closer will be the announcement of the next 3D Mario game, set for release in Holiday 2027, to go alongside the new Pokémon games.

I hope we get a Switch 2 edition of Smash Bros Ultimate. I doubt we'll get a new entry for a good while. At least since Sakurai is supposedly no longer involved, and if he is, it would be early in development since he just released Kirby Air Riders, and was made by the same team at Bandai Namco who worked on Smash Ultimate. Plus, idk where they can take the franchise from here lol. Ultimate really was Ultimate. Switch 2 edition could very well be a 4K resolution bump and 120fps support and call it a day lol. Side announce the original Smash Bros coming to N64 for NSO.

I'm hoping DS comes to NSO expansion pack next.

More third-party ports announced to continue to show that Switch 2 is just as capable of being a third-party console as it is first-party.

First look at the Zelda movie!

Everything else will be a nice surprise for me. I've all but given up hope on a new or remaster of F-Zero.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Expectations
-OOT look with release date
-3D Mario unveiling
-Mario Kart World DLC
Wishes
-Mario Kart, Smash, Twilight Princess and Mario Party on Gamecube NSO
-Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch 2 Edition
-Wii NSO

Obviously, Ocarina is the main thing I want/expect but I would also like for it to be fully blown out in its own dedicated Direct. I also expect more on Fire Emblem, Switch Sports Resort, FFR, Stellar Blade, and especially, The Duskbloods.

Things that I'm hoping for:
Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition/upgrade
The rest of the Resident Evil Remakes announced

And also for Zelda's 40th anniversary:
Zelda WW and TP HD for Switch 1. Do them like the Galaxy games ($70 for both, $40 individually on the eShop).  And like Prime Remastered, shadow dropped the day of the Direct digitally, with the physical version to follow a week or two later. And re-release this bad boy for the holidays:

Happy 40th birthday Zelda and also a great way to help Switch sell 1m+ units for the holiday quarter.

As usual Ace Attorney 7 is my biggest desire. If it is being made it can't be that far off at this point.
