Forums - Sales - Blue Ocean Brawl: Which will sell more lifetime, Switch Sports Resort or Pokemon Pokopia?

Which do you think will sell more lifetime?

Switch Sports Resort 8 50.00%

Pokemon Pokopia 8 50.00%

Total:16

With the Ocarina of Time remake looking to be the biggest Switch 2 game of the year sales wise, it looks like second biggest will fall to one of two titles targeting the "casual" audience; Switch Sports Resort and Pokemon Pokopia.

Which of these two do you think will sell more lifetime, and why?

For context, the previous Switch Sports has sold 18.32m so far, and Pokopia has sold 4m as of Nintendo's last quarterly report.

Switch Sports is the only one of the three that piqued my interest. Mostly because I’ve wanted boxing.

Which one will sell the most units coming out of this year? I’m not sure, but my finger won’t be on the pulse of the Online Nintendo Fandom as that’s a rather small niche part of the overall fandom.

My gut (right now says: Switch Sports Resort > Pokémon > Zelda 64 remake/remaster.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Pokopia has the potential of nearing Animal Crossing numbers. Pokopia will win this for sure.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Pokopia has surprised us and I think it will outsell Switch Sports Resort. Both have the 10 million milestone locked. 15 million units is on the table as well.
OOT Remake will hit over 10 million units, maybe 15 million units as well. Pretty big sellers from this year I'm feeling.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 159 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million, then 161 million)

PS5: 116 million (was 105 million, then 115 million, then 122 million)

Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Pokopia and Switch Sports Resorts will both be evergreen. Zelda I am not sure yet, the older Zelda games pretty much all did under 10 million, but we need to see some gameplay before determining if it will break the 10 mill trend.

My guess is

#1 Pokopia
#2 Switch Sports Resort
#3 Zelda OOTR

in that order

Pokotopia I think is the likely winner. Although it's proving viral amongst the casuals it's also just has a core audience of Pokemon/LifeSim/Cozy fans too.

Switch Sports Resort however is more dependent on the casual audience being there and having appetite for it. I'm not sure how much of them are on Switch 2 at the moment and whether more Switch Sports without meaningful evolution is going to attract them. The original Wii Sports Resort was a massive evolution with Motion+ controls, Nintendo Switch Sports Brought this to modern platforms (Switch) with slightly reduced content and this game just seems to be adding some extra content back... but if your main interests are tennis/golf/bowling, there isn't massive incentive to get the new game IMO.

It's really hard to predict Pokopia's legs right now, but I'm pretty confident in saying it won't reach 50m lol.

I find it very difficult to make a prediction one way or the other for Pokopia Vs Switch Sports Resort at the moment.

Pokopia. Switch Sports was a revival of a once thought “dead” series of games, whereas Pokopia is new and fresh. Add on to this that Switch Sports Resorts will be fighting with Switch Sports OG, I see Pokopia pulling shead. Should be interesting to watch though
