Forums - Gaming - What Games Would You Be Willing to Purchase For $100USD?

Suppose a game just dropped and it has been announced that it will retail for a fixed $100USD. No discounts. The price today is the price tomorrow…well, at least for the first 12 months on retail. Then it drops to $60USD. What game would this be in order for you to purchase at $100USD?

For me, there are some immediate games that come to mind: 2D/3D Zelda, 2D/3D Mario, mainline Pikmin. Beyond that? Reviews would need to be glowing to convince me to purchase at the $100USD price tag.

What about you?

None. I would wait for a sale. I rarely pay $70.

There are so many games already on the market I haven't played, I could live the rest of my life playing what is already available, especially with Retro emulation.  I would never pay $100 for a game, like never.

rtx 4090, 32 gb ram, i7-13700k

Switch 2

Zero. But perhaps you should tell us what your ceiling is?

It’d be pretty high TBH. If we’re talking 3D Zelda? That would easily top $200USD— heck, I spent over $600USD when TotK launched! ($350 TotK OLED + $120(?) TotK CE + $70 TotK Pro-Controller + $100 Zelda Amiibo).

I’m very much a special case of inelastic demand. I’ll cut whatever corners need be cut to afford a game I really want.

For me, it'd likely be a full blown remake of a game I'd want real badly. But not if it's separated into 3 parts like FF7, it needs to be remade in its entirety in a single game.

So currently it'd be.....FF6, FF8, FF9, Chrono Trigger, Dino Crisis 1&2.

Half life 3, dk country 2 remake, Chrono Cross remake, Bloodborne 2

I can't even imagine a game I would be willing to spend that kind of money on. I can just about justify 60 euros in rare occasions such as Elden Ring, but $100 (or euros) is a ridiculous ask as far as I'm concerned.

Something like Elden Ring 2 if it scored as well as the first, probably.

None. My gaming wet dream is Golden Sun getting a remake/reboot with both games together as one with amazing graphics, an orchestrated soundtrack, and actual good writting and characters. And even if it materialized into a real game, I wouldn't buy it for 100 bucks.

No matter how bad I would want the game, I consider 60 bucks already too much for any game. I usually purchase games at 45 max. 100 bucks? Lol, they can go fuck themselves.

None. I would wait, at least for the "...Then it drops to $60USD...".
