Frequently Asked Questions:

Q - When does voting close?
A – Final Voting closes on January 2, 2026.

Q - Can I change my vote/edit my voting form after submitting it?
A - Yes, you can edit your voting form up until we close voting.

Q - Do I have to select a game for every award?
A - Nope. Select your favourite for as many or as few categories as you wish.

Q - Why can’t I vote for game XXXXXXX?
A – Unfortunately it didn’t make the cut during Preliminary Voting!

Q – I’d like to see an award for Best XXXXXX, it’s a shame you don’t do one.
A – Let us know in the comments; we’re always open to suggestions, especially for new or replacement categories.

Q – How is the winner in each category determined?
A – By a mixture of community and staff voting, weighted 50/50. On the community side we use the Google Form that’s linked above, while on the staff side we vote individually on the staff forums. The staff’s results are converted into percentages for each game in each category. These percentages are combined with the percentages from the community’s results, with the total then being divided by two to get an average. This average determines both the final Shortlist of games to be featured in each award article and the Winners themselves.

Q - When and how will the Winners be announced?
A – Winners will be announced in a series of articles (as well as a thread I'll post) that we'll start publishing in mid-January.

The remaster category had some rather interesting choices lol

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Sent in my votes. Struggled with the performance part, I don't like narrative games that much so had to wing it with the popular choice there.

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

Voted. Only one big missing option from my previous votes, Nioh 3 for the most hyped game for 2026, but I'm surprised most of what I picked elsewhere is still available now.

Indeed, some are not even remasters, but well... lol

I dont know why Time Stranger is big surprise.
If you saw gameplay trailer and if you played Cyber Sleuth then you knew what to expect. Time Stranger is just a littler simpler version of CS but non the less one of the best games this year, same as CS when it was released 10 years ago. Also i dont know why Metroid Prime 4 is in Most Disappointing games, Prime 4 is amazing and it looks stunning on OG Switch i can only imagine how great game look on Switch 2.
There are so many hilarious nominees in all categories.

Even with Clair Obscur it still stands.

Well, blame me for that one, I suggested it go up there as it was a big surprise to me. For starters it's already a surprise that it was announced and released this year, after like 8 years of near complete silence. From there I was expecting maybe a slight upgrade over Cyber Sleuth, but in my opinion it was a huge upgrade and much much much better than I was expecting. (edit: and it was also surprising how good it was considering it went through a significant development hell and even had big staff changes as recently as two years ago. The signs were not good, but the game is.)

I don't imagine my vote alone got it through preliminary voting though, so I'm not the only one who feels that way.

As for Prime 4, it is simultaneously listed in the Most Disappointing category as well as several positive categories - the sign of a divisive game.

For me, the remaster category was the toughest, surprisingly. FF Tactics, Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollaction, and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 were all loaded with gems. Went with Mortal Kombat because it had the most content of the three.

Ball X Pit was my surprise of the year. Very addictice.

My favorite game of 2025... will probably be surprising and divisive, but it is by far the 2025 game I have spent the most time with (it isn't Ball X Pit, though that game is hella fun).

My most anticipated of 2026 was also a tough one, between two choices (neither of which are GTA 6).

GOTY is kinda boring this year cos we all know what's going to win.

Even the secondary categories are mostly predictable.
