Forums - Nintendo - What was your introduction to Nintendo?

For those who play on Nintendo, where did you first get introduced to them? What game? What system? What year was it and how old were you?

For me, it all started in Christmas of 1994, when my parents bought me and my little brother a Super Nintendo with a copy of Starfox. I was blown away by how it let me live out childhood fantasies of epic sci-fi adventures and space battles.

How about you?

I was very young to remember, but I think my cousin had a NES where I played some Super C.

Then my parents bought me an Super Nintendo with Super Mario World.

I owned one of these that my parents got me in 1981, six years old at the time.  I also had Galaga sitting right next to it.  I sold them both in 1993 for college money.  I recently contacted the family I sold them to, to see if they would sell them back to me.  They won't.

When I was around 6, my older two sisters and I had a Super Nintendo. I also used to play the SNES in locadoras which were places with a lot of video games available and where you could pay to play them. Throughout the years, I got the chance to know some classics like Super Mario World, Mario Kart, Super Mario All-Stars, the Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Megaman X, Disney's Magical Quest games, Aladdin, Goof Troop, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, the Bomberman games, Top Gear, Sunset Riders and etc. My SNES's family broke at some point and eventually, SNES were replaced by Playstation 1 and 2 at the locadoras, but years later, I bought my own SNES and went on buy and play other SNES classics like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Star Fox, Earthbound, Ghouls 'n Ghosts and others

In 1988 I moved from Jamaica to Florida. Never even heard of video games before then. Neighbor of mine had an NES with Contra and Double Dribble. Fell in love with gaming. I moved to PlayStation during the PS2 era though. But Ninty brought me to the dance. 💕

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

The NES at a friends house. Dont remember the year. 89 or 90 maybe?

NES: the action set. Mario/Duck Hunt combo cart, two controllers, zapper.

Probably Game and Watch. Could have been Donkey Kong in the arcade, but I’m pretty sure I played Game and Watch first.

My cousins had a NES and when we first moved to the US back in early 1990 , my cousins wouldnt let me play the NES.

When they went to school and my aunt was out of the house, my grandma would help turn on the NES and let me play.

I remember playing Super Mario Bros 1 and my cousins had a cartridge which had multiple games (which I guess is one of those flash cart equivalents during the time).

Fast forward a year later and my parents bought me Super Nintendo with Super Mario World - the Super Mario World bundle.
