Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Switch 2 2024 first party lineup

Considering Nintendo released Zelda, Pokemon, several 2d Marios, and Pikmin recently, what do you think Nintendo releases on Switch 2 next year?

My thoughts:

New 3D Mario or Mario Odyssey 2

Mario Kart 9

2-3 4K remasters

2-3 New IP

I'm doubtful on Metroid Prime 4?

Lifetime Sales Prediction - 6/29/2013
Wii U - 38 million
XBOX One - 88 million
Playstation 4 - 145 million

If the Switch 2 is backwards compatible, we could immediately discard Switch ports. If not, we'll see Metroid 4 and LoZ TotK as launch titles.
As for new games, if we're assuming one big release per month, like they did with the Switch, we will probably see MK9, Mario Odyssey 2, Pokken 2, Splatoon 4 and maybe a remake of a Zelda title.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I haven't been following up with the gaming news recently but did they really announce a Switch 2 release in 2024? if so then probably a remaster and a 3d Mario.

It depends when Switch 2 launches. We don't even know yet if it will be in 2024. And if it is, there's no chance it will be in Q1 2024 before the fiscal year is over.
I'd like to see a Q2 or Q3 2024 release in an ideal world, Q1 2025 at the latest.
Here's a possible release schedule if it comes out in Q3 2024.
September
3D Mario
New IP
October
Wind Waker HD port
Twilight Princess HD port
November
Mario Kart 9

Metroid Prime 4 is so unpredictable at this point that I don't want to commit to 2024 as a release date or if it will be on Switch 2.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 48 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Pokemon Black and White 3?

Edit: Switch 2? There is no Switch 2 coming in 2024

Switch 2 is coming in Summer 2025

I think Prime 4 is a cross-gen game at this point.

If it wasn't Nintendo would have shown at least a small trailer for it already, they've never held a game under wraps this long unless it was canned or it shifted platforms.

As for a launch window? I'd guess Mario 3D platformer and Mario Kart Next are going to be the big system sellers early on, with Prime 4 as a tertiary release. Also 3rd party stuff like Final Fantasy VII Remake port, Elden Ring port, maybe a Call of Duty game, that type of stuff.

I don’t think backwards compatibility will mean no updated ports.

Mario Kart 9 and a new Animal Crossing Game will be enough for launch.

I hope they don't release AC at launch. It's a game that heavily benefits with a big userbase for trading/interacting. Launch windows are full of stock issues as well

Save it for 2 to 3 years after launch would be perfect
