Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Monolith Soft currently recruiting staff for an entry in The Legend of Zelda series

So...they brought the Mario Kart motorcycle into Breath of the Wild for DLC.

They've been heading in a sci-fi fashion since Skyward Sword.

What if we can build our own Epona vehicle in the next Zelda. I'd love to scavenge a massive world for parts to beasts that we can ride. I'd love if they could be decked out with upgrades and abilities. Faster speed, jump abilities, flying abilities, magnet wheels so you can ride on metal surfaces. The possibilities are endless.

I know this is silliness and that many are probably groaning right now, but with as massive of a world as BotW offers, and with how useless the horses were, it would seem like a positive alternative to fast travelling everywhere. I like fast travelling, but I'm definitely not a fan of that loading sequence.

I just think at this point the Zelda lore is the most important thing, but everything around that is flexible and that as long as it's entertaining and authentic, we'll accept whatever direction they take us in.

Monolith helped on both Skyward Sword & Breath of the Wild so this is no surprise.

Useless? I was on a horse like, all the time. Fast travel only gets you so far and you can’t fast travel to explore because you can’t go to places you haven’t been to...

Is this for the Tokyo or Kyoto studio? Neither source says.

The Xenoblade Chronicles X team is located in the Tokyo studio. While they did form a team to work on Breath of the Wild, the Kyoto team is the primary one which works on Zelda titles (including Breath of the Wild); asking for people to work on other Zelda games is unsurprising.

I wouldn’t take this as an indicator that the XCX team is now working on Breath of the Wild 2 instead, because we don’t even know if it’s them that’s hiring. One thing to note is that if their expertise is what is needed, they wouldn’t be hiring new people. To me, this sounds like an expansion of the Kyoto team. Although, I am not sure. I don’t read Japanese so I have no idea which studio or team they mean.

Breath of the Wild blew Skyward Sword out of the water, so clearly Monolith Soft had proven themselves

I'm not really sure what you mean

It would be awesome for Monolith to develop a Zelda RPG spin off.

Either way, its great to see Monolith growing.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

What he means is Kyoto worked on Skyward Sword. While both Kyoto and about 60% of Tokyo worked on Breath of the Wild.
This article doesn't specify which studio location that the hiring is for; they have three studios in Tokyo (the main studio, where Xenoblade Chronicles is made, as well as the Nakameguro GS Studio and Iidabashi Studio, and one in Kyoto.

Strongly hoping for a 2020-21 Zelda using BotW engine. I realize I might not get this, but strongly hoping anyway. So what if it sells only half of BotW. Half of BotW is still a lot.

All I was saying is that Breath of The Wild was the better Zelda game overall, I didn't even think about that.

I don’t think that’s really because of Monolith though. They’re just doing some grunt work. Both games are all Aonuma, Fujibayashi and their lead designers.

The topographical map work done by Monolithsoft Tokyo was a key element in Breath of the Wild's success. The XCX team was uniquely talented at the vertical map design and development.
