Forums - Gaming - Will the best game of all time ever be released?

That means 100 in Metacritic. No one can argue anything wrong from it, because it's perfect. It has the best soundtrack, tone, story, characters, gameplay; it's the wet dream of every developer, gamer, and publisher. It doesn't need to be the best selling game, but it needs to be multiplatform. Why? Because it will bring all gamers together, there will be no reason to argue, to fight, or anything.

Will that game ever be released? Or will we keep arguing about which version of a game has more polygons?

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Maybe on the day when journalism has truely failed and the only sites that are left are the ones that give a 10/10 on everything that gives them money

no one game would appeal to everyone and be perfect to every gamers desire. Not even genre here but some game lengths are things that can't please some people, some people would want a perfect experience to end before it over stays its welcome the way Portal 1 did, some critics will say too much of a good thing will damage the mind blowingness of how great it really is like... Portal 2.

So yeah... don't believe you could make a game to please all, Ever.

edit - if a game got 100% from like... the first 50 review sites you know that site number 51 would know they could get so much ad revenue by giving it a 40% and reviewing it shit, it could be the last time people visit the site but people wouldn't be able to not go to their site just the once to flame them.

impossible. Everything's been said.

Take for example Ocarina of time, which is often seen as the 'best' game ever created. Well, back then it MIGHT have been the best game, but every other game releasing the next gen, or last gen, or this gen, practically outshines it in almost all means possible.

For example: Graphically talking Twilight princess was better. Story telling goes to the Uncharted Series or The Last of Us for instance.

BUT in 15 years, even those masterpieces will look outdated compared to games, that are releasing then.

So it's pretty much impossible to get 'the perfect' game.

Well, the number 1 rated movie of all time where every reviewer reviewed the movie positively is Citizen Kane and its average score out of 10 is 9.4/10.

If a game ever gets 10/10 from every reviewer then that will be the day any last vestige of credibility will be gone from the game reviewing industry.

If we talk about time and how dated it can get, then it shouldn't matter much. Like Pokemon Red/Blue, it doesn't matter how old it gets, it's still one of the most enjoyable experiences I'll ever have. And grapihcs shouldn't change points to a game, but to a developer/console...

Interesting point, because Citizen Kane was dethroned not a long ago :D So you're proving nothing lasts forever!
