Forums - Gaming - Will the best game of all time ever be released?

I highly doubt there will ever be a game that gets a legit 100 on metacritic.

If it were multiplatform, it wouldn't be 100 on all platforms, so it wouldn't be 100. I doubt it'll ever happen anyway, no matter what the conditions, because there's always a biased journalist that will give a game a worse grade because they don't like the genre, the tone, the developer, the publisher, etc. There would be games at 100 already if you got rid of that, as well as people who give a game a lower score just to get attention because it's a high profile game. It's not that the best game of all time will never be released, it's that even if it was, it'd still not get a 100 metacritic because gaming reviews are bullshit half the time anyway.

No, because Gamespot exists.

Zelda is the only franchise capable of getting 100% I doubt it will ever happen but if it does it will be a Zelda game.

That means 100 in Metacritic. No one can argue anything wrong from it, because it's perfect. It has the best soundtrack, tone, story, characters, gameplay; it's the wet dream of every developer, gamer, and publisher. It doesn't need to be the best selling game, but it needs to be multiplatform. Why? Because it will bring all gamers together, there will be no reason to argue, to fight, or anything.

Will that game ever be released? Or will we keep arguing about which version of a game has more polygons?

In the videogame industry? No. Simply, no. If a game has a perfect review score after about 30-50 reviews then there are going to be automatic 7/10 review scores from "professional" reviewers popping up out of nowhere.

I can think of many franchises that are 'capable' of getting 100%. It all depends on how well the game is made and how much appeal it has at the time, not what franchise its part of. OoT is the highest reviewed Zelda game yet its not the highest reviewed game is it?

OoT is the closest we'll get in this day and age

Actually OoT is the highest rated video game of all-time on Metacritic. It has a 99 score. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, GTA IV and SoulCalibur are next with 98.

impossible. Everything's been said.

Take for example Ocarina of time, which is often seen as the 'best' game ever created. Well, back then it MIGHT have been the best game, but every other game releasing the next gen, or last gen, or this gen, practically outshines it in almost all means possible.

For example: Graphically talking Twilight princess was better. Story telling goes to the Uncharted Series or The Last of Us for instance.

BUT in 15 years, even those masterpieces will look outdated compared to games, that are releasing then.

So it's pretty much impossible to get 'the perfect' game.

If we talk about time and how dated it can get, then it shouldn't matter much. Like Pokemon Red/Blue, it doesn't matter how old it gets, it's still one of the most enjoyable experiences I'll ever have. And grapihcs shouldn't change points to a game, but to a developer/console...

Of course you're right on this one, but you wanted to know if there is going to be a best game ever made and no one could argue about it.
