Forums - Gaming Discussion - Indie Dev Locked Out Of ID@Xbox For Opting Out Of Exclusivity In The Past

I always had the feeling MS was quite hard on these rules, but they want games to release first on XBLA or not at all. In a way I think it is a good policy but from a developers point of view it might be troublesome.

It's a cool looking game, but this comes up with better titles.

Here comes Major Nelson to save the day.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I was just about to post this :(

It seems as if Microsoft haven't learned from their anti-Indie dev policies yet. And yet people will still praise them for caring about the consumer because they get these games. But at what cost MS fans... at what cost?

Pretty smart actually. Since they are a smaller indie studio saying something like this will help get them an exception with the rule.

MS is going to go back on this. once they realize that indie, but virtual of their size, have a hard time supporting mulitplat release (with parity) and that ps4 is a better platform for indie to release on MS will change. better to get games late than never.

Sucks for MS and this dev.
It's a good policy for commercial reasons though. Wouldn't say it's great for the devs.

havent i heard that ms ar relaxing the launch clause? sounds like a pretty stupid thng to do with somen from who seems pretty dedicated to bringing the game to the x1. no doubt gamer criticism and their on desire to get parity (or as close to it as they can get) will brig thm arond.

Microsoft has made some good moves improving their processes and procedures for smaller developers on the XO but it looks like they still have a lot of work left. The idea that you're actually better off if you signed a short exclusivity deal with another console is ludicrous. Smart of Vlambeer to take advantage of the loop-hole but they're pros, they've been around the block. All that's happening here is that someone was punished for trying to do the right thing and I bet they won't be the last developers in the same boat that we read about.

Someone on their ID@Xbox program needs to take a look at this ASAP.

the indies already spoke about microsoft.. so .... no matter what this company says.. the truth is there
