Hey everyone.

So I've had this question hovering around my mind as of late. So I remember reading an article a while back about a statement from Epic Game's president, Mike Capps, stating that Microsoft does in fact NOT own the Gears of War series. The reason why the series has remained exclusive is because Microsoft has been very compelling in keeping it exclusive on their plstform, though the series still belongs 100% to Epic. Recently, however, I've noticed that Epic seems to be working pretty well with Sony, and they have shown a lot of interest in the PS4. Vice President Mark Reins had a lot of good words to say about the console. There's even rumors going around about an exclusive project between Epic and Sony.

Do you all think it's possible that the series will make it's debut on the new Sony platform?

Personally, I believe it's entirely possible. Hell, we might even see the original trilogy come to PS4. They may have been published by Microsoft, but so was the original Mass Effect, and that eventually came to PS3. What do you guys think? 

On another note, I would like to hear people's opinions on how this could potentially affect Microsoft's platform, seeing as this is their 2nd biggest exclusive franchise.

I was pretty positive that we will see Gears of War on PS4 or even PS3 if Epic would decide to continue with the franchise after the trilogy, I thought the exclusivity deal would span over the trilogy and that's it. But after a prequel by PCF was still an 360 exclusive I would get my hopes up cause it looks like MS is still interested in maintaining that exclusivity, although the average sales may have left MS lukewarm towards an idea of another exclusive Gears.

Sure it's possible but I think the franchise is pretty much dead. People can Fly might make another for XBONE but Epic will be moving on to a new IP probably.

It could but I kind of hope not. I'd rather see a new IP. Gears seems to have run its course, to be honest. It would have to be something amazing that breathes new life into the franchise for it to be a big deal.

Personally, I'm not a fan of TPS cover-shooters and I hate the chunky aesthetic. I hope Epic brings out a massive new multi-plat with a totally different look.

However, I get the feeling that working on their game engine is their main focus.

The answer to your thread title is "yes"; the answer to your poll question is "no".

The series is pretty much done, Microsoft probably has some sort of exclusivity arrangement over the first four, and PS4 owners aren't going to rush to buy the fifth game in a series new to the console.
