As you can see the gap between the PS3 and the X360 is 27k this week (W.E. 26th Jan). The PS4 was only announced on the 1st Feb so it obviously isn't going to have an effect next week (W.E. 2nd Feb), but what about the week after that? Will the X360 begin to sell more on a weekly basis than the PS3 up until the X720 announcement? I mean, what kind of moron would buy a PS3 when they know that its successor is just around the corner? I have no idea whether this'll actually materialise or not because I don't think anything like this has ever happened before, but it'll be interesting to see.

No and if it does, it will be very short lived, I imagine with the ps4 being announced they will drop the ps3 price (uk) to about £149 and with big titles releasing this year before the rumoured ps4 launch the ps3 will have a very good final burst

Very unlikely, though the PS3 will be under 80k very soon with the 360.

Two problems with the op: PS4 isn't announced yet. And people who buys PS3 now aren't morons. I will buy my younger brother a PS3 in two months time who is just passing college. You have to use language carefully next time you call people moron.
