Blizzard Entertainment had pegged Diablo III for early 2012, but as fans had started to suspect, the studio might not actually hit that timeframe. Turns out that’s true, based on news during the company's fiscal call today.

Diablo III is now being targeted for a release sometime during the company’s second quarter. For reference, Activision Blizzard’s second quarter ends on June 30, so the game could arrive at any point before then.

Could. Hopefully.

“We’ve implemented changes to the game that we believe will greatly increase the game experience,” said Blizzard president and co-founder Michael Morhaime.

Morhaime said there would be “more details” about the game’s release date “in the coming weeks.”

Not that big a deal to be honest, only a couple months. Gives me time to get a new rig so I can play this game and let it consume my life like D2 did.

Not sure if I will be picking this up at launch yet. Thinking about holding out until the imminent battle-chest combo they will do years from now. I can wait, but it is sad to hear for those who are dieing to get their hands on it.

Enhancing the experience is always a good thing though.

ya i assumed sometime before summer initially, so this really isn't a problem from me. Delaying past the summer would be bad news for me though. I don't have much free time to play except during summer vacation!!!

Holding out for years? Isn't there a risk you get left behind in the competition? Now I don't know how the competitive online function will work in Diabolo 3 but I personally hate to get into a game as a noob when everyone else is an expert. (which is the reason why I abandoned my plans of getting BF3, it's too late now, I will get slain).

I'm more of a single player kind of guy. Don't have much interest in online competition.

June was already when I thought it would come out so it's not that bad but the wait would be less painful if they'd finally send me a Beta invite.

Summer release would actually be the best for me as it won't overlap PS3 releases..
