One might think that spying on each other and wasting precious time on cyber defense is not the best way to get a vaccine fast.

One might think that forgoing patents and profit and work together globally to find and produce a vaccine might be a better way, than what we do currently. Alas, nobody even suggested that the vaccine creation process could go faster if every research is put on the table and companies working on it might be compensated differently than by profits.
