The way they talk about game development in interviews suggests that this could be the case. They talk about how much fun they had developing a game and that they can't wait to see how the audience reacts to it, because the gameplay is different than before. If they operated more like a business, they would look at sales and say: "Okay, this is something that people liked, so we are going to make more of it." But all too often we see unwanted changes. Paper Mario: Sticker Star is a recent example. Skyward Sword went back to a more colorful look, even though Twilight Princess sold significantly better than The Wind Waker in big part because of the looks. And, of course, Wii Sports 3 is completely missing. |
I was at a point, that I considered to buy Sports Connection to get my Wii sports fix on WiiU. Miiverse saved me, even people who owned the game didn't recommended it.
