This is pretty much what I think. He don't want to run after the competition trying to copy everything to catch up, like the competition did with Move and (much better) with Kinect. I think he wants Nintendo to build up it's own network and adding features as they think they are good. And I'm pretty sure, over time they will implement the same core features, although they may name them different or have a different approach to them. The only thing may be some features, NIntendo thinks are not appropriate for a gaming machine. Whatever that may be.
