Does anyone actually care that NSMBWii doesn't have online? I'm genuinely wondering, here.

I have the game, and I do. I don't think I'll ever find 3 other people to play this with locally and LBP has proven that online would work in a platformer.

8.9-9.2 sounds about right for me so far. I expected higher than that from IGN considering the scores they've given other Wii exclusives.

Bolded is a load of crap. The two games play completely differently.

And your point is...?

I'm asking the same thing.

Online play just defeats the purpose of NSMBW's local multiplayer. The person online (unless they are your friend) would most likely not play with you for fun. And how would the "auto-win" feature work with that? One person wants to win while the other wants to do it themselves? Wouldn't Wii Speak be necessary as well?

I don't know; I would buy this game regardless of the score they give it, but it is baffling how these "top-tier" gaming websites just cannot give the 9. After it sells 15 million, would the rating still matter though?

Not having online co-op today is a sin. All my gaming pals live abroad and only way for us to play games together is online. Sorry Nintendo, you just lost a customer. Guess I will keep playing Mario Bros on my DS

Yes it will work in a platformer, a slower paced platformer that has a lot more puzzles than precise jumps that you'd have to coordinate with others to make.  It could be there, but would it work?

Just now?  After they said it wouldn't have online from the very beginning?  Sheesh :P

I knew if I waited a minute someone would explain this so I wouldn't have to. The pace of the game is just so much faster, you'd get that thing where you see people dieing on your end, but then they're actually fine. Any amount of lag would kill the experience.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

Those are good scores. I'm happy.

Works with fighing games and they're more reliant on timing and precision than Mario.

It's a legitimate complaint, guys. If you don't care about online then don't let it bother you, but this is 2009 and it's expected.

the score seems reasonable, and I would agree with the comments that online multi-player would be nice, they easily could have made another character as opposed to 2 toads, and they easily could have beefed up the graphics a bit to at least look as good as Wario Land Shake it! I have no problems with the score and will be getting this game soon!!

fighting games != platforming games, especially since fighting games are about fighting each other and not about helping each other through the stage.  Again I ask do you think having to have precise timing on jumps, platforms, etc, sometimes while having a moving stage will work online in a game where you can effect people you're "working with" with little to no communication possible since if they support Wii Speak most people won't use it or have it likely. (it's rare to find someone on LBP with a mic as well)
