Stop spreading miss-information... it doesn't render at 4K 60 fps, it uses dynamic resolution scaling that renders as low as 1080p which is 1/4th of native 4K, it's a marketing gimmick to push X sales, It's still impressive looking game sure but it's not a 4K 60 fps game on the X by any means.

What are you on about? Its highest res is 4k and its most common frame rate is 60 frames on the X, that makes it a 4k 60 fps game.

Its not a locked 4k but it still renders 4k. When the game hits its strides and runs at 4k@60 what do you call it?

Also where does it drop to 1080p and 50 frames?

Either way, get it on a gaming PC instead and play it at a native 4k@60 frames. That makes Gears 5 a 4k/60 game.

Go watch the DF analyst.

Speaking of the DF analysis, apparently DF is leaving Resetera because one of the DF guys was so impressed with Gears 5 and gushed about the visuals so much that he got hate mail from “angry Playstation fans” in his words. Fucking yikes. I need to jump into the campaign and see these glorious visuals.

heres a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=303&v=JalWT8oNxhk

From what I understand it was generally well recieved.
I think the fact that xbox has been abit lacking in exclusives and that It finally got a game that looked up to pair, ment reviewers were abit more generious with scores.

That said yeah... hype on vgcz didnt seem that big for it.
I think that boils down to how they marketed it, tbh.

That was a very interesting video. Again, nothing against 5, but that really shows how good Gears 2 was.

Gears of War 2 was in the running for my favorite game of the generation, last gen. Epic went all out on that one. I always hate comparing two things I actually love (Xbox vs PlayStation, for example) because it forces me to attack something I'm actually really happy with.

Gears 5 is now the #1 most played game on Xbox. Fornite has been #1 every day since summer 2018. Really impressive.

If we go down that road it makes almost any multiplatform game with PC version a 4K/60 game.

On a PC sure, however its confirmed by analysts that Gears 5 on a base Xbox is 1080@30 and the X is 4k@60. Its just not native 4k all the time on the X which was clearly mentioned.

I wouldn't call Gears 5 a 1080@60 game.

This is where I flat out don't like the pro console. The game looks gorgeous on an X 4K HDR, however they are still CAD 600 here (gears 5 bundle) for one game, no way. Of course the S costs much less or game pass of course, but then I have that nagging feeling I'm playing the inferior version (Gaming laptop with 1060).

First world problems I know, but that's how my stupid brain works.

Rest easy. I have an original (1080p TV), two S consoles (1080p TV and a portable monitor)  one X (4K TV). I jump between them often. The difference isn't THAT huge...most of the time.

Same with the PS4 and PS4 Pro.

I know, I have a pro and ps4 as well and apart from some small black borders all around, Spiderman looks pretty much identical viewed from the couch. It's just that nagging feeling and why I jumped to consoles instead of sticking with PC which always has the next GPU, ram upgrade or better cpu as soon as you build one. It has nothing to do with logic, just the feeling that if there's no choice, devs will have made it for that specific machine. Exclusives aren't that anymore.

My gaming tastes have definitely shifted since the death of exclusives and just play a few games for a lot longer instead of playing a lot of games. If there were no pro's I would have definitely have an S by now. Anyway, I can't complain, it's saving me lots of money. I've gone from spending over $1200 a year on games to maybe $300 and still can't get through my back log.

You can't call something 4K if it drops as low as 1584p and sometimes it actually drops as low as 1080p 50 fps, that's not a 4K 60 fps game, let's just be honest here.

I agree with you. I was just giving the source.

Are you sure X can drop to 1080p ? I didn't find this number.

It can bottom out at 1080P, but it will very rarely, if ever... Actually happen.

It spends the bulk of it's render-time at 1584P-2160P.

However the game uses temporal up-scaling, so it's not apples to apples with regular resolution outputs anyway.

PC of course can do better than just 4k@60fps.

If you are referring to the Gears 5 Console Bundle than that actually gives you 5 games as it comes with the entire mainline collection of Gears of War from 1 to 5 plus you get one of the best looking X consoles ever made.

But yes its very expensive for a console. Depends how much you love Gears of War I guess.
