Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition announced for the Nintendo Switch!

If you guys don't know about that game

"What the Golf?"

Check out a few mins of gameplay of it here, I would suggest that you watch enough of the video to see what type of game it is (insane) and don't watch all of it because part of the special thing about this game is just how messed up some of the "thinking" behind the game is. Really so just watch the video to the point where you think "that's for me" then stop and wait for the game launch to buy it and enjoy it.

Wait....there was a Nindies Direct. Was this a stealth drop or did I miss an announcement. Crazy!

Super stoked for this game. One of the few titles that I wanted an XBox for. This partnership or whatever between Nintendo and Microsoft is just weird, and I do feel like Nintendo must be offering them something, other than sales. I wonder if there are some dormant Nintendo properties that Microsoft is planning on bringing back. I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth, and maybe Microsoft's only angle is to get their titles on other platforms and the Switch is obviously a great place to go, but I just feel like something had to be traded to make this happen.

There was indeed, I linked to it in this post

Thanks!  Yeah, I actually watched it before I responded to the thread.  Sometimes I'm a bit spacy over the weekends as I have a lot of stuff going on and tend to miss out on my VGC time.  There was even a full article on VGC that I missed about it.  Cool games coming out for sure, but I've still got a huge back log of indies to download so I'll probably just get Ori.  A new chucklefish game, too?  Wow!  Looks great.

That golf game is day 1 for me as well, I gotta learn some more about the Skating game, see if it's more Tony Hawks or just a physics simulator, been years since a good skating game was out, there is a fun Crayola scooter game on the Switch (I'm not even kidding, it's a thps clone) but no straight up Tony Hawk 3/4 rival.

Guess i can finally try it out :)

Played it on PC a couple of years ago.

One of the most beautiful 2D games I ever played it.

Yessss! I was hoping it'd come to switch, been meaning to play this one. Switch is getting SO MUCH support it's unreal.

This and Superhot are very big.

Also, Microsoft seems to be rather smart about what games it allows to go to the Switch. I know some people are clamoring for Halo, but Ori and Cuphead are jut perfect for the system in a way other (non-Rare) Microsoft franchises could never be.

That whole Nintendo Nindie Direct stream was incredible, some great looking games on the way for the system, these indies do a great job in filling in the gaps in between those major titles like Pokemon/Zelda/Animal Cross and such.

I agree, I was just watching the video and couldn't believe there ain't a thread about it, just for some of the games.

Let's give each of the games it's spotlight here instead, shall we?

Hotline Miami Collection:

Torchlight II:

The Touryst:

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened:

Skater XL:

Risk of Rain 2:

Earthnight:

Youropa:

Eastward:

Skellboy:

And last, but not least: Freedom Finger:

Excellent move; the game is a great fit for the Switch.

I'm really liking this MS-Nintendo partnership of late, from porting games like this and Cuphead to bringing Banjo and Kazooie to Smash. Here's hoping it not only continues but develops even further.
