One question: Why does the frontpage say that XBO is now at 42.9M... but at the platform totals, it says 44.07M? Someone forgot to update it's numbers there?

Enough with the vita sales report on the charts.
Sony has officially discontinued it a while back.
It's unfair to still report and compare a product that is no longer in production.

It's still being sold and charting in Japan, and as long as it does so, it will also chart here.

But this will very probably be the last year it does.

PS4 at $249 would help sell it over 200k a week for the rest of the year.
Droping the price to $199 early next year will keep the PS4 selling for a good year or two.

I don't think so.  PS4 is already $249 at Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Gamestop, etc.  In stock and readily available.

I just saw this and decided to check amazon top100 videogames.
PS4 slim is currently #40, and the Switch is #56.

So that seems effective enough, if its able to outsell (currently) the Switch at 249$.
Still sony should make such a move permanent, and announce it via marketing to show better effects.

wow xbox 3 has to launch first definetly now

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

Firstly, wouldn't that be Xbox 4?

Secondly, rushing a system to market is not a good idea, you run into issues of not enough games being ready for instance. They're better off just weathering the storm (they're MS after all, it's not like they're gonna go bankrupt) and launching alongside PS5 in holiday 2020. It's kinda similar to Nintendo's situation a few years back; a lot of people wanted them to get a successor out in 2016 or even 2015, but they held their fire until the time was right.

Not really the best comparison as the improved Switch model is releasing in late Aug and Switch Lite releasing Sept 20. Switch has steadily been dropping on Amazon ever since those were announced.

Gray Switch is sold out until mid August and the Neon not showing up on the Amazon Videogames Top 100 for some reason (it's pricetag of $297.99 is hidden until you put it into your cart). If it would, then Neon Switch would be around the 9th or 10th spot right now, since it's ranked second on Switch Top 100.

Plus, like Zorg pointed out, the new models are incoming, so probably quite a few are waiting for those.

PS4 was around the 40th spot throughout winter and early spring, but then dropped off more and more. This here was the situation just after the Lite announcement and before Prime Day, so just 2 weeks ago. As you can see, PS4 wasn't doing do hot anymore compared to earlier this year. In March, PS4 slim was 35th, in April 37th, In May. it had dropped of to 46 already, and in June, it dropped to 81 while the Pro sits on 65

In other words, it being on the 40th spot would put the console roughly where it was in April sales-wise, which was about 150k.
