I don't know about you but I'd rather watch CNN than some stupid YouTube channel.  Maybe you have a point but I look to Reuters for news.  Reuters is above and beyond political bs and will only give facts.

CNN isn't gold standard either. You should try some 'stupid' Youtube channels like Rational National, The Humanist Report, The Secular Talk, Kim Iversen and so on, to accompany your classic media consum. Overall the most important is to keep an open mind.

All great YouTube channels (I love how Kim's getting more exposure she's amazing), I suggest Brian Tyler Cohen, The David Pakman Show, The Majority Report w/Sam Seder, and Rebecca Watson as well (the last one is less political but she's a smaller channel so Imma just plug her here lol)

My take as a former Democrat voter (Kerry '04, Obama in '08):

It's a combination of Trump himself - the give no fucks, celebrity/president cult of personality type who represents a backlash to ultra Political Correctness and this sort of modern strain of Neo-Puritanism that is running rampant in America (and yet funny enough I think most Americans, even many liberals, are more than sick of)

..coupled with - zero enthusiasm or real substance by most of the Dem candidates. Many are either the lame, old breed of Dems like Biden who's basically a centrist neolib/Corporatist types with no new or exciting ideas, or the nuttier Bernie/Warren new-school types who may have some interesting ideas but have something of a limited appeal with how far left they lean. Most of them seem to be running on a campaign of negativity in one way or another, with a focus on Trump hysteria rather than focusing on actual ideas to move America forward or how to cater to most Americans.

Trump on the other hand DOES present this message (whether true, bullshit, or somewhere in between) and people are drawn to that.

You're not going to garner much support placing so much emphasis on negativity and essentially what amounts to "Just vote for me so this guy who's worse than me doesn't win again!" WHY should we vote for you, specifically? What will you do better as president? I fail to see most of these candidates answering these questions.

So I feel it's just like you've got a couple corporatist neolib Hilary types at the top (Biden and Harris, maybe Booker? namely) who don't generate much excitement, and in the far left camp or newer breed "AOC" school of Democrats, you've got a highly crowded arena of candidates cutting into eachother's bases and pandering to the same audience. And all in this camp seem to be trying to "out liberal" the next guy, as many seem to be adopting increasingly odd and extremist views and policies that are just never going to have a massive appeal in the US.

I DO think Bernie seems to draw a similar amount of enthusiasm as Trump (he's sort of the anti-establishment left candidate toTrump's anti-establishment RIGHT candidate), but the media oddly seems to not care much for him, so he's largely ignored or at least others are given favoritism over him.

By reading that first bolded statement I honestly don't think you've actually seen any of their campaign speeches let alone their websites or even know their platform. They have TONS of ideas and policies to move America forward and to cater to Americans. Sanders and Warren are even describing their plans on how to accomplish those policies.

Honestly none of their views and policies are really extremist, for example by polling, 70% of Americans support Medicare-for-all or something similar to that. If an overwhelming majority support it it's not extremist.

Trump isn't anti-establishment he regularly agrees with and pushes for establishment policies brought up by the right in Washington (and we all know that they are bought off by special interest groups). He loves corporations. The only thing that's different from other politicians is that he just says anything that comes to his mind no matter what, even if it doesn't make sense or is discriminatory. He has no filter.

Nancy Pelosi said something that I agree with. To paraphrase, she said whoever the Democratic candidate is, they don't need to run on a platform of "Trump is bad." That doesn't work. Nobody cares how much of a piece of shit he is. Don't even mention Trump's name. Focus on what YOU will bring to the table.

And someone else in this thread said something that I disagree with. They said "Democrats won't accept any president that they don't pick."

I don't think that's the case. I'm happy with anyone who carries themselves with respect. Who, even if I disagree with their tactics, seems to have the American people's best interest at heart.

Trump's tactic of constantly telling his fanbase "You're awesome. You're the best. People who aren't like you are awful." may work but it really hurts the morale of people who don't share his values. His lies and contradictions are just way too much. And his policies have hurt me and my family, costing us thousands of dollars.

I'm happy with any candidate that wants to work together with people, even if they disagree. I want compromise.

Nancy Pelosi shouldn't give people such ideas. I want the EU to become the world's greatest superpower, so we need Trump in charge of the USA.

For example, Trump's insistence on trade wars makes it much easier for the EU to strike good deals with other nations, because it's easy to be a better partner for them than the USA is.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

This is so true, I believe even his base knew what a crock he was prior to him running. Once he began pandering to them, they were putty in his arms like melted butter.

"Rebecca Watson"

is she the lady that freaked out because some guy asked her out in an elevator?

I'd recommend looking at Charisma on Command or Scott Adams videos to demystify Trump. He's skilled at marketing and persuasion and you have to look at it through that lens.

The worst way to persuade people is to imply that half the population are morally deficient as some on this forum have implied.

Scott Adams predicted Trumps win beforehand after comparing his campaign strategy with his books, right? Yeah, it's quite possible that people claiming Trump is dumb may falling for an act or a strategy.

And Hillary Clinton did imply part of the population is morally deficient, and look how well that went. I hope the current democratic candidates have a better strategy than that.

10 years ago I would've agreed, I wanted the EU become a superpower. But with the current state of the EU, I am not so sure anymore. I want a multipolar world instead. And yeah, the US is in no shape to lead the world, regardless if Bush or Obama was in power.

He said some of the people crossing the border illegally are rapists, which isn't untrue. Some does not mean all, not does it mean a majority.

This is a typical media spin, though, and it was the same deal with the "grab her by the _____" stuff. The media claimed he endorsed grabbing women without consent in that line, when they knowingly cut out the beginning of the sentence that set the context ("They let you grab them by the _____").

If you want to detract from the guy, call bullshit on policies. If nothing else, fact check what is being said about him. The Trump Bump makes negative coverage of Trump profitable, so media outlets typically exaggerate losing their minds over him to get clicks.

Trump is above and beyond facts.  This mother fucker believes the media is public enemy number 1.  This mother fucker is public enemy number 1.

You're not going to respond to the examples of spin brought up by Azuren?

Don Lemon literally entertained the idea of a black hole swallowing an airplane, and had a guest on who suggested a small black hole could swallow the entire universe. CNN is an absolute joke of a news source.

I'll give you that Reuters is okay, but that doesn't change the fact that some YouTube channels have more traffic than many cable channels.

Doesn't change fact that most YouTubers can suck my dick.  If I want to know how to change a part out of my car I'll go to YouTube otherwise I'll stick to a fact based news agency like Reuters.

The fact remains that dinosaur cable news is on the way out, no matter how much you dislike YouTubers.
