Solid 9. Their best this gen and as good as Nintendos 2014 show which is my favorite E3.

So one part of me wants to give them brownie points for really staying on target, as well as maintaining a steady momentum. Games were the center piece here, as they should be. The features and services all looked pretty solid.

Yet.... pretty much everything shown was multiplatform release, things that were already previously announced, and the few actual big reveals were already spoiled yesterday. Spoilers cannot be helped, I wouldn't hold that entirely against them. Still, those spoiled goodies came down to CGI trailers mostly anyway. Speaking of, that was an issue, so many clips were just fluff piece CGI trailers. I can be relatively ok with such things but only when they at least progress interest in the story of a game in some way.

It's just so sad to say but very little interested me here, even with a hardy 60 games shown. One might bring up MS's new ethos is to be device agnostic, something that can really open up some doors for their business model. While this makes perfect since financially......what is exactly making this a draw to Xbox ecosystem over Playstation/Nintendo? They are seemingly just making it easier and easier to respectfully NOT buy their hardware as everything coming from them is still available elsewhere. GamePass value is growing while Xbox value is shrinking.

This really did feel like the complete admittance of them stepping out of the main console race, even if they casually tipped about Next Gen Hardware.

They just announced the ability to use your console as a server.....PS4 already does this, albeit not the most effective route. You can remotely control and utilize your PS4 now on devices. So forgive me for not being so shocked at this announcement either.

When it comes down to it, this was an earnest attempt for the cards that they have, but ultimately a mediocre showing. 6/10

Xbox is more than a console now, it's a service. MS doesn't need you to buy their system to support them. Some might buy Xbox Gamepass for PC, use project Xcloud on their phone, or use traditional Xbox hardware to play games. It really doesn't matter to them because you are still supporting Xbox as a service. People who enjoy the Xbox console experience will continue to buy consoles. They are not stepping out of the console race, they are simply giving more options on how to play their games.

As a business decision I understand that fully. This is likely to be the avenue most lucrative for them.

What I am saying though is to the consumers, the necessity of having an Xbox One or getting their Next Gen console is essentially dead, and you are likely better off Doubling down on Nintendo and/or Sony who have unique exclusive experiences with the bonus of getting Game Pass via other devices(PC, Phone, maybe even Switch and larger stretch .....PS5).

Gamepass was showing tremendous value during their show.....at the expense of ever wanting to buy their console or even just native versions of their games. It is strangely circular.

Keanu made me genuinely smile.

They didn't show much gameplay. I was really expect Gears 5 gameplay of all things. I will give it a 7 while last years E3 was an 8.7 for me. If they would have showed gameplay for Cyberpunk, Gears 5, Outer Worlds, or Borderlands 3, it would've easily been an 8.

So E3 has been underwhelming as expected.

Even if Sony Join it wouldn't make any difference, glad they skipped for next gen console reveal.

I'm wondering if Sony will make an appearance at the AMD conference to help announce Navi, which would also be announcing PS5. Also interesting that MS didn't announce how powerful their system was. Could that mean that Sony got the power crown, again?
