I can be relatively ok with such things but only when they at least progress interest in the story of a game in some way. It's just so sad to say but very little interested me here, even with a hardy 60 games shown. One might bring up MS's new ethos is to be device agnostic, something that can really open up some doors for their business model. While this makes perfect since financially......what is exactly making this a draw to Xbox ecosystem over Playstation/Nintendo? They are seemingly just making it easier and easier to respectfully NOT buy their hardware as everything coming from them is still available elsewhere. GamePass value is growing while Xbox value is shrinking. This really did feel like the complete admittance of them stepping out of the main console race, even if they casually tipped about Next Gen Hardware. They just announced the ability to use your console as a server.....PS4 already does this, albeit not the most effective route. You can remotely control and utilize your PS4 now on devices. So forgive me for not being so shocked at this announcement either. When it comes down to it, this was an earnest attempt for the cards that they have, but ultimately a mediocre showing. 6/10 |
Xbox is more than a console now, it's a service. MS doesn't need you to buy their system to support them. Some might buy Xbox Gamepass for PC, use project Xcloud on their phone, or use traditional Xbox hardware to play games. It really doesn't matter to them because you are still supporting Xbox as a service. People who enjoy the Xbox console experience will continue to buy consoles. They are not stepping out of the console race, they are simply giving more options on how to play their games.
