Yeah, it's a great game, and it's also the first time a mainline CIV game has been on console since Civilization 2 on the PS1!

It also sounds like it's going to be a great version with minimal changes, very happy about this. Now let's hope it manages to sell well, 300k+ should be satisfactory.

I've played like 500+ hours of Civ Revolution on the PS3.  I really like this streamlined version of Civ.  But getting any Civ game at all on a console is a big enough deal that I have to give Civ 6 a try.  Also my wife has played about 5000+ hours of Civ Revolution.  She says that she won't try a more complex version, but I bet if she sees me playing then she won't be able to resist.

In case neither of you have ever played CIV 5/6 they're both a lot more streamlined than previous mainline games, and for that reason 5 was the first one I really liked. Definitely more complex than revolutions but I think they're quite easy to pick up and user friendly, unlike IV.

I am totally shocked that Civ 6 is coming to any console for this very reason.  I just didn't think they ported Civ games to the consoles any more.  Also, if I first saw this during a direct, then I totally would have lost my shit.  This is just a huge surprise.

Civ VI is a really big change, even from Civ V. The city system is so complex and it makes so much difference that there is a steep learning curve. Also (they may have fixed in this in expansions but) the religion is a pain, which pushes everything towards science victories.

This feels like this year's version of the Doom/wolfenstein announcement, where it caught everyone off guard. The fact that this will be switch console exclusive (at least for a while) tells me the chances of getting a GTA V port is still there.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I agree with this.  A true Civilization game hasn't come to consoles since the PS1 with Civilization 2. This is such a huge announcement.  And it is a console exclusive. That's nuts. This was the last title I expected to be on the system. Like I expected something like Banjo-Kazooie to appear on the Switch before this game.

I don't know how Civilization VI plays compared to the last ones (I have Civilization  2-5). I do know that having a mouse is very useful but it is not impossible to play on a controller. If they have gyro controls the Switch version will be fine.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

Sounds like Civ 6 is a good version.

I've only played Civ 1, 2 and Revolution.  I'm pretty sure Civ 6 is more complex than Civ 2, but the main thing I liked about Revolutions was the game was much shorter.  I could complete a whole game in a couple of hours.  With the PC games I typically would start in the early afternoon, then I would look up at the clock and suddenly it was after midnight.  I had a lot of fun, but it ate up all of my time.

I kind of expect Civ 6 to be more like that, but I will give it a try and just have to watch my time more carefully.  The complexity is what would bother my wife, but I think once she sees me playing it, she will get sucked in too.

Civ without mouse and keyboard?

No thanks!

That's great news! Hopefully it's more optimised then the PC version otherwise the Switches CPU (or any current consoles cpu for that matter) could prove quite frustrating when it comes to turn times.

Wonder if it will come to ps4/xbo later.

Also hoping that 4 player multiplayer doesn't mean that you can have less AI civilisations also on the switch version, though that would be one way to get round the turn times.

Switch's clockspeed is 1 GHz so they must have some sort of optimization. The minimum specs for the PC version are 2.5 GHz CPU speed.

Damn, the switch announcements keep piling up. The list of games I want for it keeps getting longer.

Interesting. Seems like a fairly good fit though. Civ on the go sounds pretty neat.

but it's a port of the IOS version, which run on an ipad air 2. that should be reachable by the switch power with no troubles
