Forums - Movies & TV - Hollywood Strikes again| Scarlett Johansson set to play a trans man in an upcoming movie

The creator of Ghost in the Shell said the main character wasn’t Asian and actually wanted SJ to play the role. So.... can’t use that as valid argumentation.

Trans character? Whatever. But Scarlet doesn’t have a single masculine feature about her, even without make up. Seems like a really dumb casting decision, more than anything.

I loved the Ghost in the shell movie. Was fun, I don't see what the big deal is.

There are a lot of old Flintstones episodes to make up for, but this isn't helping. It's only making things worse.

I doubt there's many trans men with experience who can actually act just hanging around. Besides it's actors and actresses' job to act as other people. Most people don't give one shit about this kind of stuff.

Then by all means get a man to play a trans man. And presentation means everything in a movie, it makes 0 sense to get somebody who doesn't look a smidge masculine to play a trans man. Same reason why everybody was so up in arms about Christian Bale, a white man playing Moses, an Egyptian, or for that matter, Scarlett Jo, a white chick playing Motoko Kusanagi, an Asian chick in GitS.

They wouldn't cast a female-looking women if they needed someone who looks masculine. Why don't you just wait until you've actually seen the movie, then you can decide whether the casting makes sense or not.

Why get one of the most beautifull women in the world to play a trans man?
Common.... thats not realistic.

There are more believable choices out there.
This is like her getting a role in Ghost in the Shell ... it just doesnt fit.

Only sjws care. Actors play as other people 100% of the time. That whole thing about GitS is just as stupid. She played as a woman in a fully cybernetic body.... which could look like anything because it's a cybernetic body. It would be completely up to the individual what they would look like. Also, alot of characters in Japanese anime look white because Japanese like the look.

Why not get a actual trans person to play the role? or a man thats willing to play a trans if thats what the role calls for?

What do you mean? Motoko was pretty fucking sexy in the original anime
