Forums - General Discussion - I need to ask you all something about love.

Do you think love can bloom on a gaming forum?

Yes 36 66.67%

No 18 33.33%

Total:54

Certainly a connection can develop with someone in a forum. I don't think it is possible to develop a true, deep love for someone though. Unfortunately, it is not possible to truly know someone that you haven't met in real life. And, if you don't know someone, you can't have real, honest love.

With that said, if you think you have fallen in love with me, you should buy me a drink and we'll see where it goes

Assuming your straight, theres like 5 girls on any given gaming forum. Sooo.....

I suggest you hurry and make your move, scratch that, you might already be to late.

Dont feel bad though, I would bet good money that most of us have a crush here. Specially since we do a vgchartz most attractive user contest every year.

Sure. I think it's more difficult to foster here than it is IRL. Quite certain of that. I know people here have hooked up. At least one fairly long term relationship started here. I would never flirt with anybody on a gaming forum though, so there is a fair amount of conjecture in my opinion.

Again for guys is hard as the odds are against them. But should be easy for girls. Odds are in their favour.

To be fair .Thats also true in real life.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Agree with you. But a site should at least facilitate them meeting. If it dosent work or if it does after the meeting then its not the forums fault.

Just don't get cat-fished.

I think it's sad that people try to establish a relationship via the internet because there are so many thing you can't know for sure. Are we so scared of rejection nowadays that we can't even ask a girl out in real life (then at least you know it's a girl in the first place)? You don't get to know each other by chatting. And if you're falling in love with a girl via the internet, you're falling in love with the image you created of her. She will be completely different when you meet her in person. That's my experience with dating apps/sites.

Perhaps people aren't trying and it just happens from getting to know each other over time. That's how it happened to me through playing Everquest. So much down time in the old version that it was more chat room than game. Play together night after night and there's a lot you end up talking about. It's easier to confide in strangers, or in this case people that are far away. Isn't that what a lot of us do on this niche website!

Darn those Canadians. I met my wife playing the first Everquest and moved to Canada from the Netherlands. Married 14 years now with 2 children.

Yes, Canada is known for abducting foreigners under the false pretenses of love and marriage. It's part of our plan.

You can also blame Everquest.  Evil, evil game.

It's not false pretenses if it's followed through. Everquest was quite evil though. Like what do you do when 2 of our favorite group members divorced because the husband cheated on the wife. Who gets in the group, do we need to make a schedule, we still need a tank and healer. So inconsiderate of them!

Love can bloom everywhere but be prepared cause people do not always turn out to be how you picture them to be.
Good luck with it . :)

I hope so lol. I’d love ro have a girlfriend who’s a gamer. A buddy of mine is married to a fellow gamer and she goes on hours-long Overwatch binges with him and sometimes stays on when he signs off lol. I also have a cousin who met his wife on World Of WarCraft 12 years and 4 kids later they’re still WOW fanatics. So I’m hoping my God Of War-playing, Hot Shots-golfing lady is out there. With my luck she’s on another console and I’m a Sony gamer lol.

LOL All my friends who lost their social life to WOW didn't even have time to see a woman let alone have one baby.

All love is is set of needs that make logical sense to be with someone (i.e being able to put up with them 24/7 without wanting to kill them for being around you too much). Each person has their own set of needs..

Therefore depending on your needs, will depend on were you can find love lol.

I think it's possible for love to blossom anywhere, but I think one should take time in defining something as love.

I've actually met two people via online message board before in my life. One of those, very much against the odds, became a wonderful romantic relationship for a good long time. The other is someone who seems to be interested at present and whom I've been interested in for years now without speaking up (I'm not very good at initiating things that way) and we'll see if that goes anywhere. Neither of these were/are via gaming forums though.

On gaming forums (NOT here; this is a cool place!), and on some other forums too (especially political ones), what I have sometimes experienced in that connection is being pursued aggressively by mostly older guys with clear-cut sexual agendas and delusions that they amounted to love. Of course, as much is likely in part owed to the dearth of female contributors overall, but it's still discomfortingly aggressive behavior. I've not yet had the good fortune to meet another girl or woman (as applicable to my age at the relevant life stages) who shared both a comparable level of interest in video games and romantic interest in yours truly.

Really get to know someone first before deciding that what you have is love, particularly if an online venue is the only one through which you know that person at present. Don't be aggressive or insistent or leap to conclusions.

Haha indeed!!

Also people are sometimes having a too perfect sample of what a relationship should be in their mind, minor flaws arent so bad ,dissagreeing also isnt bad :)

Try to love the whole of what makes someone, if that makes any sense. :p
