I think it's possible for love to blossom anywhere, but I think one should take time in defining something as love.

I've actually met two people via online message board before in my life. One of those, very much against the odds, became a wonderful romantic relationship for a good long time. The other is someone who seems to be interested at present and whom I've been interested in for years now without speaking up (I'm not very good at initiating things that way) and we'll see if that goes anywhere. Neither of these were/are via gaming forums though.

On gaming forums (NOT here; this is a cool place!), and on some other forums too (especially political ones), what I have sometimes experienced in that connection is being pursued aggressively by mostly older guys with clear-cut sexual agendas and delusions that they amounted to love. Of course, as much is likely in part owed to the dearth of female contributors overall, but it's still discomfortingly aggressive behavior. I've not yet had the good fortune to meet another girl or woman (as applicable to my age at the relevant life stages) who shared both a comparable level of interest in video games and romantic interest in yours truly.

Really get to know someone first before deciding that what you have is love, particularly if an online venue is the only one through which you know that person at present. Don't be aggressive or insistent or leap to conclusions.
