I'm not exactly sure what you're asking but I'll try and break it down...

- 2 Million Players = Includes GamePass

- Fastest Selling = Microsoft Studios 1P Titles, Not including GamePass, Apparently includes Microsoft Published Titles - We're talking Sunset Overdrive, ReCore, Ryse, Quantum Break, Ori and the Blind Forest etc.

- Best Selling on Windows 10 = I assume Win Store only, basically it has sold more than Gears 4/Forza Horizon 3 (Last I heard, Forza Horizon 3 was roughly estimated to have around 100k-200k players on Windows Store a month after release.)

I guess what I'm losing is the accurate description.

If we are talking "best selling on windows 10" then that limits it by tons more than just "fastest spelling Microsoft IP".

So what is the actual results? Why say first party when it is open to all Microsoft published Titles. And why include windows 10 if it is open to anything not on windows 10, like say SSO.

I'm more just lost in what the actual "achievement" was. And what games counted etc. Did Sea of thieves sell better than cuphead? Better than cuphead only on windows 10? Do they not count Cuphead? etc.

There are 2 separate achievements. The first achievement is that it the best-selling game on Windows 10 Store, means it outsold Forza Horizon 3, Gears 4, Forza Motorsport 7, Gears Ultimate Edition, Quantum Break, etc. lifetime sales on Win 10 Store in just 1 week.

The 2nd achievement is that it the fastest selling 1st party title this generation. Since Greenburg confirmed that MS considers any game published by MS Studios to be 1st party, that means it sold more in the first week than Ryse, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Ori and the Blind Forest, and ReCore. Cuphead was self published by StudioMDHR through the ID@Xbox program, so it wouldn't be included, though that doesn't necessarily mean that Sea of Thieves first week Xbox + Win 10 sales didn't outsell Cuphead's first week Xbox + Win 10 sales. PUBG is uncertain at this point, it is technically a new IP and published by MS Studios on Xbox, but it's hard to believe that SoT first week Xbox + Win 10 sales beat PUBG first week sales on Xbox.

Reminds me of No Man's Sky.

Lot's of hype building up. Sells a shit ton on release. Then everyone wanting a refund, lol.

Apparently the last record holder for MS was Quantum Break.

^ this is important.

VGCz estimates Quantum Break sold over 267k units at retail (over 300k with digital).
So we know that atleast 300k people "bought" Sea of theives for 60$ (full price).

I don’t think we should gloss over the 500k+ new XBL subscribers. March should be an impressive hardware sales number this month.

Welcome!

How can you gloss over something that isn't even there?

Bet Shiken that COD would outsell Battlefield in 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8749702

I see, thank you. So there were two achievements then.

Still it is a bit confusing.  You probably can't count PUBG or cuphead. Those were the two big ones I was thinking of.

SSO isn't first party, but is is published so I can see them counting that.

Easier to just say congrats than trying to figure out exactly what game counted for what, and outsold which etc.

So congrats to Sea of thieves.

  • Deadliest mass shooting by an individual in US history (10/01/2017)
  • Deadliest high school shooting in US history (02/14/2018)
  • Deadliest massacre of Jews in US history (10/27/2018)
  • Political assassination attempt of TWO former presidents(and 10+ other people)  (10/23/2018 - and beyond)

I am just glad to see the game doing well.

Not surprise considering the complete lack of first party IP's from Microsoft. Theirs probably going to be a backlash after playing on the Xbox game pass its very boring and repetitive with unbelievable lack of content.

Congrats, the game has its launch issues but is quite amazing.

This is nice. Congrats, Rare!
