Forums - Gaming Discussion - Most Overlooked, Underrated Game You've Ever Played?

What game have you played that was seemingly criminally overlooked and cast into shadows over time? I'm not looking for "Minish Cap was actually really good guys", i'm talking straight up hidden, or games that got poor reviews that you think deserve a second look.

For me, its Speed Racer: The Video Game (PS2, Wii). This game was F-Zero Wii in all but name. A great soundtrack, an insane sense of speed, many characters, and an improved form of the car fighting mechanics introduced in F-Zero X make this game a standout, and one of the best movie-to-game adaptations ever made.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Hmm. Maybe Zack & Wiki? It got great reviews, but bombed commercially. Psychonauts and Beyond Good & Evil are unfortunately overlooked by many, also.

If we're talking games with even lower profiles, then maybe Tyrian/Tyrian 2000 and Wizorb.

The Wii is full of overlooked 3rd party titles.

-De Blob
-Boom Blox
-Bit Trip Series Collection
-Red Steel 2
-House of the Dead: Overkill

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

Goemon's Great Adventure. Definitely one of the best 2D platformers I've ever played.

Red Steel was awesome, my only issue was waiting for doors to open when they used them to hide load screens, but what can be done :P

Folkflore (PS3) ranks up there for me. I never hear anyone talk about Code Name Viper (NES), but it's a badass Rolling Thunder ripoff. My favorite 2nd gen games are both kind of forgotten in conversation, Moon Patrol & Demon Attack. No One Can Stop Mister Domino! (PS1) and Mad Maestro (PS2) also seem to fit the bill

Archibald's Adventures (PlayStation Portable, Microsoft Windows, iOS, Mac OS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Windows Mobile, Palm OS)

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Binary Domain and Castle Vania Lords of Shadow 1 come to mind. Especially Binary Domain. That game is the epitome of an underrated gem.

Folklore is a great choice! I wish it had gotten more love...
