Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft Expected Xbox One X Scorpio Edition Inventory To Last A Week; It Didn’t Even Last A Day

Good that XB sold out as many as they could or wanted to make, not so great that they won't say how many that is exactly. A limited edition, is just that though. You don't make too many, or its not really limited and special anymore.

XB1X selling bigger numbers than Pro for pre orders and the first couple months wouldn't be all that surprising. You have to take into account that PS was the first to dip their toe and jump in with Pro. Waiting to see how things go and jumping in afterwards is always easier knowing what to expect and how to react.
You have to remember that when mid gen consoles were rumored and announced, most people weren't so sure about what they thought about it and weren't completely sold on the idea. There certainly are a lot of people who were and have been waiting to see how things played out with Pro, and how things will play out with both the Pro and XB1X on the market. I would have to imagine that impactful XB1X sales, will actually help Pro sales to a certain degree as well.

On a side note, I thought Phil said they couldn't call it Scorpio though? Calling the limited edition Scorpio is ok though? Not sure what the thought process was behind it, or did they just finally give in and say screw it, we need to slap Scorpio on there at some point in time? Its a good name, Scorpio Edition, just don't get why the sudden change. Is somebody actually listening maybe?

It was a pretty obvious move to increase pre-order numbers. About nobody likes the name XBox One X and everybody wishes they'd have just called it Scorpio instead.

That doesn't make any sense to me unless it was an afterthought or a change of stance. If someone at XB said, hey, let's call the launch version Scorpio Edition to boost sales, why didn't they, or anyone else who agreed, think to themselves, why don't we just call it Xbox One Scorpio and make everyone happy and sell even more over its lifetime, instead of just at launch? It's not like XB1 isn't known for making fairly quick changes to things they specifically said they weren't going to change.

Without hard numbers this statement is completely meaningless. I mean what if they only made 50K scorpio editions?

That is still more than 1

Pocky Lover Boy!

Such a nice thing to say.

The main problem here was they wanted it to be seen as an iterative console which still belongs to the X1 family, otherwise everybody would have complained why they abandon their console after only 4 (3) years. Even if that's what they are basically doing.

Also funny that Nintendo sucks for selling out while MS is having overwhelming response.

Anyway without any numbers, everything is always selling faster than expected...

And how is that comparable?

The Xbox One X pre-order is just a limited special edition. On top of that, the regular Xbox One X will be widely available once it launches.
vs.
The only version of a (retro) console that will be sold out for weeks and months after launch.

Hence the name Xbox One Scorpio. I fail to see how that is anything generational like Xbox Scorpio, Xbox Two, or Xbox 4k, etc.

Sorry MS but I rather wait for numbers on Nov NPD.

that's nice, they need big sales this November and December because their sales so far this year have been abysmal. even two huge wins and the PS4 will still win the year in the US, which I'm sure will be forgotten by some.

Expect a Pro price cut too
