Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo has crossed the line that even EA, Capcom, and Activision hasn't!

Locking in game content to toys is one of the worst practices i've ever seen by a game company. If MS or Sony locked content behind things like that they would be torn to shreds online. Nintendo should just stick to releasing the toys and forget about locking content behind them.

You can't even just pay for DLC (which is absurd to have to do in itself). You must buy a kids toy to unlock the game's best mode! Now what is a grown man going to do with this toy? Am I supposed to run around with it and say "pow" "pow"? No, I'd just throw it in the trash. What a waste! As a long time Metroid fan going back to the 90s, I was very excited about Metroid: Samus Returns, but now I just feel insulted.

Video games are for kids. Do you run about with your 3ds going pow pow?

Rated for 10 year olds to play it, you are already 34 years out of the target demo of the game, if you are happy to buy a product made for a 10 year old then you should have no shame about buying an accessory designed for a 10 year old to use with that game.

i hope your ripping on everyone who likes the Marvel movies for going and watching a movie made for 13 year olds. Or heckling grandparents who are buying 10,000 piece puzzles that say 12+ on. Ect.

Hoping you are being sarcastic, but the age number on products is the minimum age recommended. No maximium.

Ever heard about collectables? You know usually people with a certain age keep these things stored bc it holds some sentimental or monetary value.

The amiibos are not even articulated. It's not practical for a kid to play like an action figure doll LOL.

Ow, are you saying that Nintendo is a company that wants money? OMG, I thought they were angels that are enough satisfied with only our smiles while playing their games.

This thread will be more funny if we later discover that we can have access to the fusion mode with in game achievements.

Didn't that already happen with one of Nintendo's game? Don't remember which one it was but the amiibo only gave you the perks instantly but you still could unlock them by doing it the good ol' fashioned way.

Nintendo could clean this up with one change. All Amiibo from a franchise can unlock all the locked content in their games. Because why not. People buy these things regardless of the DLC that they lock out. So sales wouldn't really decrease because the Samus made for Smash years ago can unlock all the content for Returns.

Not sure if you're kidding. I hope you are. There a tons of video games that you won't be sold in America if you're under 17. GTA 5, Witcher3 and MGS5 come to mind almost immediately when I read the bolded.

This is like saying all books or for kids and then showing a cover for the "Cliffford the Big Red Dog" series book.

You could unlock everything Super Mario maker had to offer with amiibos also through gameplay, though it's pretty tedious (through 100 Mario challenge iirc)

The game still has a hard mode for people wanting it to be more challenging, this just a separate one for the amiibo with some more interesting effects. I think as long as it still has a hard mode, a different separate mode behind the amiibo isn't just as bad. I know there are people who would prefer to have something other than an amiibo to unlock it but Nintendo have to do something with amiibo. They probably should have other ways to access it I suppose.

Yeah, I agree that's some shady business! Amiibos should be optional and simply add some extra flavour or something like that. Locking up parts of the game for you to pay to play isn't cool. I could understand if they pulled a Zelda BOTW and released a dlc later on with extra features, but forcing you to pay for an Amiibo is shitty

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
